Been a rather busy last few days, si I was unable to post here until tonight, but have been keeping track of Todd's numbers in his SS.

He's doing really well, actually. He's about three days past due for his Mirtazapine, which I am holding off on because I want to see how he eats without it. He eats the same, so it looks like he may not need it right now! YAAY! Of course I'll keep it on hand for his off days.

But really doing well, I think. And today was a pretty good numbers day. Tomorrow I am going to do a home curve to see what is going on with him. I'll post my findings. Am I correct that a curve should be every 2 hours, and does that mean if I do it all day, I also need to do a curve during the night? as in, a 24 hour curve, or just 12 hours.

Thanks all!
Sarah

Re: 1/9 PMPS Todd 129

hi Sarah,

a curve is usually every 2 hours. In both cycles. There is also a mini curve which is about every 3 hours.
Follow the guideline in this link New to the Group

however with a low preshot, like the 129, you'd want to get a +1, as it looks like your lowest preshot to date.
have you had a chance to read the other stickies? Like this one Dealing With Low Preshots

I gather the 129 was from last nite and you're just posting the update now? were you able to get any more numbers after that?
Gathering data in the evening cycle is just as important, as you have no idea how low Todd is going in the evening.

Thank you for the info Ronnie.

The 129 is from last night (1/9) at 11pm. I just did a +4 spot check and he is 170. I'm afraid I didn't even think about doing a +1. But if he is low tomorrow morning at pre-shot, I will for sure do a +1. Actually, I guess I'm going to do a curve tomorrow. So that'll be even more helpful.

I was unable to do a condo for Saturday (1/8) as I was just way too busy planning for my hubby's surgery next week. But I did keep tabs on Todd in his SS.

And now, I should probably get myself ready for bed. I have a long day tomorrow.

oh my, you have late preshots. I was trying to figure out what time it was for you.
ok, go to bed!
thank you for the update (and good thoughts for your DH's upcoming surgery Sarah)

Yeah, I set him up for late shots for a reason. heh I am not a morning person for one, so getting up at 7am or 8am is tough, also, late night shots mean evenings are a little more free. I was finding it very hard to do 6pm, 7pm or 8pm shots, while trying to make dinner or have an evening with friends and family. Selfish I suppose, but the times have to work for both of us. I think it's actually easier on Todd as well, because he is so used to MY schedule, when I was trying to get him used to an earlier time, he wouldn't want to eat and would fuss a lot.. But when I switched him to 11am and 11pm, we had no problems and it seemed to work a lot better for him.

The only problem is if I have to go out of town, I usually have to board him at our vet, and their hours are 7am to 8pm. :/

And thank you! This is the first of two surgeries he will be having. This first one shouldn't be too bad, but the one after it will be a lot harder.

Ok, now I really should go to bed. heh
