He was a hungry boy. Got up at 6AM to take away his food and give the dog heart meds. Then DH got up at 6:30 so I got up with him. Maverick kept trying to lead me to his food station and even sat there looking at me. Every time I got close to him he'd start racing towards the living room feeding area. Sorry buddy lol.

And then I went back to bed. Iphone alarm didn't go off so I was late on his shot by over a half hour ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104

Morning Karrie--Maverick is looking really great today!! Moonie free feeds also, but I do watch the times she eats--She sort of has a pattern, & when I see her rushing over to the food close to +3, I know she maybe dropping!! She's a great little self barometer!
Maverick seems like he is doing Fantastic with what you are doing for him!

Awesome SS!--Read your profile, sorry Maverick had such a life threatening time, but it makes you be Aware!!--
Hope you have a green day today--I just updated my ss & BTW Copper is a cat, Moonie's littermate!!
Have a great day & You are doing a really great job!

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104

Nice AMPS Maverick! Gee, I was late getting up too Karrie. Was a half hour l;ate in shooting my two too.
Do you think they will dock our pay?
Well, Happy Sunday to you!

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104

sorry about the late shot. Sometimes change is just as hard for the bean as the cat! You will get your time back, and Maverick will learn to go with the new schedule in no time.

Have a great day!

ps- I hear those iphone alarms are really having problems these days. you can blame the tardiness on apple!

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104

Nice numbers, Maverick! I'm guessing you'll be going surfing with Binks?

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104 - question

I have a question for you guys surrounding feeding. Since Maverick's nadir seems to have moved to +3 - does feeding change his numbers or would his numbers behave the same as him eating an hour before preshot? His +2.5 is higher than normal today. I forgot the number again, have to go back up and check but it was 95 I think.

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104 - question

Oh Karrie, how do you have the guts to look into that little starving face, and say, "sorry, you gotta wait"?
I've given in so many time in the early morn, 'cause I have 3 cats staring at me, and it's too close to Checks' test time, and I haven't the guts to just turn my back.
Lovely amps for Maverick.

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104 - question

lots of us were late this morning...
and binks was not thrilled!

nice amps, mav!

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104 - question

No answer to your question but it is an interesting one!!! Great amps this morning!!

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104 - question

good question, I'll be interested to hear the answer.
Poor Maverick having to wait for food. They're so used to getting what they want, when they want it, it must have been a shock

hope you have a great day

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104 - question

No answer here, either. Sorry! Great amps, however. In general, I don't pick up the food dish. I figure it will all even out over the course of the cycle. But Rusty has a pretty shallow curve. Ann (Tess) has a solution: she uses the 5-compartment rotary auto feeder and sets it to move to an EMPTY compartment 2 hours before AMPS. If Maverick will use an automat, that might be a solution for you, too.

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104 - question

Morning Karrie. Very nice AMPS. I'm guilty, too, of not always taking the food dish away, or I forget to look at the clock.

Hi Karrie

u may of heard or read, nadir's can change. When our's did the first time, long ago, it was a joyous occasion! lol
as a matter of fact, it happened today in our AMPS cycle.
For us, feeding does change the route of where the numbers go, sometimes, but I don't trust Luna, and sometimes he pulls a fast one on me
and I think this is where ECID (every cat is different) applies. I have a lot of data and am able to determine this for Luna. As you can see I detail every little snack and when it's given on our SS, this helps to see how food affects the cycles.
If I fed an hour before preshot, from my data history, he would rise and there goes my clean-food-free preshot number.
Our own +1, +2 and sometimes +3, are typically still higher, up until the onset kicks in.

as for taking the dishes away, we do when we are home and try to remember to do so after the +9 snacks, often times there are little crumbs of wet food still in there, and knowing Luna, he will think it's crunchies and lick the bowl clean.

hope that helps....hopefully others will give you their thoughts thru the rest of the day.

By the way, you guys are doing awesome! I've been peeking here and there

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104

Thanks guys :) Glad I wasn't the only one late today. Maverick would never get used to an automatic feeder. He just doesn't like food enough to wait for it. And with his FHL history I'd rather he eat when ever he wants to for his Beans peace of mind.

What I was thinking about the food is if his nadir is at +3 and we feed before this.... he doesn't really drop as low as he would. Then he would rise from there naturally right? Maybe I'm overcomplicating it and it all works out in the end. If his pancreas was working correctly it wouldn't matter when he was fed right?

Just got back from a day of errands and shovelling the driveway. Off to read condos

Hi, Karrie and Maverick ;-)
Great # this morning, I hope you both are enjoying the day.

Re: 1/9 Maverick AMPS 104

great numebrs today for you maverick! what a nice amps.

Sorry for the late feeding... been there too. I am grateful for hollering kitties that will usually get me up.

We had a green PMPS number. Not sure why one single digit makes such a psychological difference. Its like he did good on a test
He didn't eat 3oz of food over the 10 hours since AMPS. 2-2.25 oz. Even with chicken dust.

I'm going to go buy him ocean whitefish and tuna. Even though it says on Binky's list its higher in carbs (7% I believe), he eats this better. I think he's getting bored of T&G. I'm going to try mixing the two together. Chicken dust is losing its luster nailbite_smile

ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile I just looked up Binky's chart again to double check the ocean whitefish. I realized I read the calories for his T&G wrong. Its almost identical to Ocean whitefish so I don't have to worry about weight maintenance issues. I thought T&G was 200 calories.
