Hi all,
I‘m feeling a bit defeated today. After it had been going uphill with Raven ever since he got out the ER, his appetite has really taken a turn for the worse and he vomited twice this morning (small amounts). Gave him cerenia after speaking with vet, but he has not really esting anything except 5 pieces of kibble. After throwing up he seemed hungry but then licks his food and changes his mind. Clearly he‘s not feeling well. It also seems like he may have a stomach ache. He pooped twice today, but he keeps going to the litter box without success.
In addition internist got his blood disgnostics back and relayed over the phone. Unfortunately crea is up since he was released on Dec. 31st from 3.3 to 4.2 and she did not think he was dehydrated., BUN is down from 73 to 45 (normal below 35). Internist still thinks this may be acute and did not want to change him to kidney diet or phos binder. She said if acute these are not needed and can do more harm.
She did agree with me that dose increase back to 2.75 was warranted since he spent most of the day in the mid 300s with apex over 400 and nadir in high 200s. Following higher pm dose he is trending downward. He also hasn‘t had as many calories. I‘ll probably have to tube feed now since he won‘t touch his late night snacks. It seems torturous to feed him if he‘s nauseous. But I guess it‘s better than the alternative.
It‘s so hard to see Raven unwell after he was doing so much better and was acting more like himself.
