Morning LL,

previous thread1/3

WCR Sara is doing well. She has been using the cube a lot lately which makes getting a test difficult. It's behind a chair so the space is minimal and the lighting is not that good. I think she likes it because it is near the register for the woodstove. She obviously likes that winter snuggle down feeling. Abbott is sending me 200 strips, which I haven't received yet. :-| I've been holding off buying any because I should be getting those soon.

WBR I'm still very frustrated with Denny's potty training. At times I think that this is just the way my life is going to be. He will go outside when I bring him out but he still scents or poops in the house when your not looking. It is getting better but my mornings before work have been spent cleaning up. That's why I didn't post this week. One of my cats has a small problem with him so I was thinking that could have something to do with his scenting. I have put up a bell and am trying to train him to tell me when he has to go out. That is key. Something he doesn't do. I think it's because he was just used as a showdog in his early life and he wasn't taught.

Sorry to go on about Denny, but it is a reason why I haven't been testing Sara that much. I need to focus more on him when I'm home.

Have a good weekend.

Oh the kitten picture is so cute :-D Thank you!

Do you have the bell hanging from the door knob? I like following your doggy training saga. And, I wish you the best of luck. Don't give up. Your life is not going to just be like this. He is a smart dog, and you can train them.

Have a good day Sara and Jan. Nice AMPS, but lets see some green, too

Re: 1/8 Sara AMPS~144

Happy Caturday! Sara is looking fine, as always. Have you thought about fattening her dose to see if that brings her range down? I'm sure this range is nice and comfy for both of you, so there's no need to change it if it's working for you. I was just curious.

Sorry about the potty training. You'll get there, but I'm sure the process is frustrating.

Dyana, thanks for wishing me well with the potty training and pointing out that my life won't always be like this. :-| I needed that. Yes I do have the sleigh bells on the door handle. I ring them everytime I ask him does he have to go business. He gets real excited. My other dog [GA] learned this method and he used to ring the bell to go out. So I'm hoping.....

Libby, yes I have thought of putting the fat to Sara's dose. Your right, at the moment [especially with Denny] it is a comfortable place to be for her and me. Maybe after he gets settled. Thanks too for the well wishes.

Re: 1/8 Sara AMPS~144

Hi Jan, Good luck with the bells. That sounds like a great idea. I, too, am sure that you will soon succeed in training Denny. He's still new in your household, so you have to make allowances for that. And his background as a show dog, confined to a crate, is certainly an obstacle. But he sounds like a smart dog, so I'm confident that you will get his issues straightened out.
Sara is helping you out by giving you good numbers. Nice that she's enjoying her cube by the wood stove.
Have a good weekend, all of you!

Re: 1/8 Sara AMPS~144

Hi Jan you might want to try and train him to a dog litter box its what my chihuahua uses in cold weather and to me its much better then constant floor cleaning they have dog litter thats scented but it did not work for us so I just use puppy pads in them she is tiny and we carried her in and out for warm weather but when its cold she will just stand there and shiver so this works for us and it may not be a option for you but just thought I would mention it anyway. Happy Sara is doing well

Re: 1/8 Sara AMPS~144

he'll get there, jan...it takes some time when they're adults...
obviously he wants to please you...and i recall you mentioned the key ingredient in a previous post...praise, praise praise when he gets it right!

sara...looking good!

Re: 1/8 Sara AMPS~144

Hi Jan - nice idea with the bells. I am sure that eventually you will get there with Denny. It is so frustrating I know, but you strike me as a person who doesn't give up much on anything, so I am sure you will get Denny on track.

Sara looks like she is having nice cycles. Sometime comfortable is good, reassuring when there are other things going on. GO SARA! And no worries on not posting - I think we all know how it is.

Hey Sara - OTJ party today for Shadow - we are in Texas! You wanna come? I can pick you up. It should be fun - big huge BBQ! See you! ~~ Mannie

+2~100 Michelle, Your right I won't give up on training Denny. He's here to stay and he loves his home. He's such a happy dog. He just has to watch out for the occasional swipe from Sam [civie]. :?

Kerrie, Yeah Sara has really taken to the cube lately. You know how they change up their spots from time to time.

Celi, I carry small treats in my pocket so when he does good I have them on hand. I guess it's just the 2 steps forward 1 step back that gets to me.

Lisa, thanks for the lb tip. I still want to work on the outside business. Your little dog must be adorable! But you know I never thought of it, that they sell dog litter.

Ella, That's right I do have to remember that he hasn't been here very long. He had a hard start in life also. I'm so glad that Sara is doing good with her #'s.
