Good morning!

This morning was Ole's 4th cycle at 4.5 units. I plan to dosecrease tonight to 5uL unless told otherwise.

I have to be out of the house all day, but will swing home between meetings and sneak in a test.

Ole is well this morning but not as frisky as a couple of days ago. 5P's are fine, he is always a good groomer after eating. With Ole's cooperation, I'll test ketones before I leave for work.

Hi guys .. yay for being a good groomer! Mocha always bathes after eating too .. of course, she get's food everywhere when she eats! Good luck with the dosecrease .. have a great day guys!

Here Ole, here girl! Come on down, now. You'll get dizzy up there. Let's give our mama bean a nice surprise when she comes home. Think pink - it's a much prettier color than red! :-D

I hear you on the peeing co-operation :lol: I set a trap and waited hours last night for pee :roll: Come down from there Ole, those are not acceptable colors! Yellow would be good, blue even better...it's good that he's feeling well and has all his Ps :-D I hope your Wednesday is going great! :razz:

Strange. :? Especially since the R you tried the other night didn't move him 200 points in 1 hour . . .
I can't help but wonder if one of those was a bum reading . . . strip may have been bad. . .

Yes, I believe the strip must have been bad. Ole just tested HI. Is it time for another R dose?

How about starting off with a +1 and +2? You may want to curve the R -- in other words, get tests at +3 and +4, as well.

Hi all,

A bigger drop on +1 than the 1st time Ole got a R dose.

He did try to steal my slice of pizza right out of my hands about 15 minutes ago and I think he scored a pepperoni.

He tested negative for ketones this evening, as well as this morning.

:?: Has Ole ever had a dental cleaning?

Also, I was reading Oles condo from 01/05 and noticed you feed in twice a day, 30 minutes before shot time.

Typically we recommend you 'test, feed & shoot' all within 10 minutes or so as feeding after +10 can artificially inflate a PS.
Is there a reason you feed 30 minutes before PS?

Also, many diabetic kitties, mine included, do better with their daily food intake broken into several mini meals throughout each cycle (before +10).
I recommend you give it a try and see if it helps smooth things out. We used a 5 compartment digital programmable feeder so BK could snack around the clock, again except for after +10.

Hi Sandy,

I was waiting .5 hr between feeding and shooting on the recommendation of my vet. I have since changed and I shoot Ole within 5 minutes of finishing his meal.

Unfortunately, a timed feeder will not work for Ole. Although I have not tried one, I've studied them closely. My little Ole is a persistent and focused cat when it comes to food. We have to keep our trash on the porch because 9 lb Ole moves a 15lb concrete yard ornament blocking the cabinet that holds the trash (we call the statue the Ole Goalie). Yes, He moves the Ole Goalie, opens the cab door and gets into the trash, eating everything edible and semi edible. He will not be stopped by a battery operated plastic feeder. I do try to feed him pure protein at least 2x throughout the day, but it is hard to be consistent because of my work schedule.

Time to test, I'll be bace soon.

Hi!

So Ole had a little climb, just like the last R curve. It is so interesting, but I don't know what is going on!

I'm doing some work preparing for meetings that I have all day tomorrow. If I must be a little groggy, I might as well be well prepared!

I will be looking into Ole's pancreatitis and talking to my Vet about sub Q's and pain management.

Hi!

Still in the red, but out of the black. I would sure like to see him come down a little more though. Ole doesn't like to be in the reds and blacks and I don't like him there.

Would you suggest another test?
