Well, we're getting close! Not sure if I can really call it an OTJ trial, but then again, he got insulin in the morning on 12/27 (and twice a day every day before that) so just because I never gave him any, doesn't mean he's not on a trial, right?
I was looking for something in the fridge yesterday and found the syringe I had made up to give him the 2U of Vetsulin for the PM shot on the 27th. But then with his BG only being 92, and me never using Vetsulin before, there was no way I was giving it to him so I put it back in the fridge (where it continues to sit...I should probably throw it away...LOL). It still scares me to know that his foster mom was blindly shooting, especially considering she's a vet herself.
The only "problem" we have is that the Orijen Wild Boar treats I had used with China seem to be Garfield's favorite thing in the world! He'd be thrilled for me to fill a bowl up with the treats and he'd gulp them down. He's even jumping up on his "testing spot" all the time, not just at testing times and then I get "the look". Maybe once the official trial is over, I'll see if I can find one of those treat balls he has to move around to get a treat to come out. I'm not sure they make one that would work for these treats though since they're dog-sized treats but will have to do some looking around and see what's available!
I still miss my other babies terribly, but Garfield is a loving, gentle and very sweet kitty. He's still a little jumpy sometimes, but he's getting better. He no longer runs out of the bathroom when I flush...LOL
It really is nice to have another kitty in the house and I think he was just what I needed.
