happy saturday, all!

well, kitties were on the loose all night in the interest of bean comfort...and the silly bean fell asleep during a movie and spent the night on the couch anyway!
Turned out to be a good insight into nocturnal Adoptocat habits though....slipped into dreamland with a manx snuggled in my arms...and woke up concerned at the loudness of his snoring. :shock:
It turns out that Smudge is the Cowbird of the catworld: if you're not familiar with the reference, the Cowbird sneaks its eggs into the nests of other birds so the unsuspecting owners will raise it's babies. Dont know when binks left the cuddle...but the girl saw her chance and snuck in. It was pretty cute.

2 p's present for the boy this morning...it's chilly here, so he's snoozing again...

Nice AMPS for Binks. My Maggie is also a Manx, but a Manx mix. She has that stubble. I've been asked by people what happened to her tail?? She also snores - maybe one of their traits! I always enjoy hearing about your furbaby family. Have a good weekend.

perhaps another blip like last night...

i didn't know maggie was a member of the unadorned! sounds like she's in binks' classification...a "stumpie" as opposed to a "rumpie" or a "no-tail". Binks was vastly relieved to know he would not go thru life known as a "rumpie" :lol:

i've had manx kitties for most of my life...and can't tell you how many times folks have asked if i docked their tails like the boxers we've had...

Smudge sounds like she will take any opportunity. I love the interaction. I'd love another kitty, but I don't think Tess would!

Celi I read up on the Manx last night when you said Binks was one and was reading about rumpies and stumpies and their island lol. Never knew any of this. Very cool. I didn't know Maggie was one also. Its an elite club I think.

I really do love hearing about the adopticats and their new bean. You changed their lives dramatically and they know it.

You won't believe the number of people who ask me if we docked Teddi and Gus's ears as they are both folded ear Scottish Folds. PUUHLLLEEZZEE!!

I had this wild dream last night about Binks and Gracie's BG numbers....lordy, will this nightmare ever end? :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Stay warm.

it's official today...i've hung onto the hope until now...but this morning gave my reservations to a friend for the Priest lake Dog Sledding Race next month. First time i'll miss it in 11 years...but i just feel i'm not ambulatory enough to make it worthwhile. I know...someone who dislikes the cold...dogsled race??
Well...let me tell you...if you EVER choose to visit Idaho...Coeur De Alene lake and Priest Lake are 2 of the most breathtaking areas in all creation. And if that isnt enough...we'll welcome any and all for cattle drives on the family ranch...you bring the sleeping bags and boots...and we'll provide the horses, cattle, and grub! and if you bring your kitties...the family will no longer laugh...Homie (GA) blazed the trail and braved the laughter as the first "Cowboy Kitty of Sutton Ranches"

ah, yes...kitty info...wrong way, dude! and Manx kitties...amazing lil buggers.. often called the 'dog' of the cat world (don't tell them tho)...because they generally like to accompany their humans on any/all activities..or not...cuz, you know...they're cats! :lol:

well...guess this lil manxie's swivelers are gonna get a rest this afternoon...

marjorie...i never docked the boxer's ears...which for years kept us from showing them in the US in conformation...so we did utility dog/obedience trials instead...but dock a kitty ear??? what folks think, eh?

Gotta love a sneaky snuggler. Unfortunately, Willie likes to sleep ON me. Plugged in a feliway last night, and he decided at 3am that his mood was improved such that he would stand on my chest and rub my face with his nose. While sweet.... *sigh* That boy is lucky I love him. Though, he isn't much of a snorer, when he's REALLY out, if you pet him, he won't purr, but rather will give out these sweet little contented whimper/moans.

I will have to research and look at pics. I'm not sure if she's a "stumpie" or "rumpie:. Maggie barely has anything sticking out for a tail, just a little! I don't have a good camera to send you a pic. I remember when I took her to the Vet this last time, the Vet wanted to take her temperature, and he went to grab her no tail, and the Vet Tech and I laughed and reminded him she's a Manx. It's a long story, but Maggie was a stray kitten wondering the property when I found her or vice versa, part of a feral group of kitties. People would drop off cats at our apartments assuming someone would take them in and provide homes but didn't always happen. Very sad.

It is snow flurries here too... but not really much at all & they melt before hitting the ground which is OK with me.. I am not a winter weather type! :roll:

Well, I'm sitting here looking at what may be the most unhappy, betrayed-feeling little manx in the Northwest.

Treated the lil grey swivelers with Epi-Otic...an event he has not had to endure for almost a year...during which time the remembrance of the horror and trauma of the
treatment must have slipped his little mind. :lol:

probably take him an hour or two to get over this one...

i, on the other hand...am over it already.

So do you race these dogs, or are you a spectator???

We have a lot of dogsledding around here and a big race up north (beargrease). One year I decided I wanted to work on my fear of dogs ( I was bit badly by a german shepard when I was 7yrs old). I went to the humane society for months emerging myself in the loudness of the kennels and taking some dogs out for walks or play. I made sure to at least talk to every dog I saw on the street and sometimes pet. My graduation was a volunteer effort with the beargrease race. I was one who ran with the dogs to the start line. :shock: Holy Moses. I dont know whose heart was racing more...the dogs or mine. Do NOT get in the way of a husky about to start a race! :lol:

I dont know why Im telling you this. :lol: :lol: Hope you found it entertaining.

Poor Binks and the evil drops! I've been having to keep an eye on willie's skin problems, making sure he doesn't get all matted. Poor guy is so tired of being picked, poked, stuck.... trying to balance it out with lots of grooming (we LOVE that!) and pets. At least he still will sit by me on the couch! LOL

dog sled races? so sorry you have to miss them. Though I do concur totally that ID, and those areas in particular, are some of the most incredible beautiful parts of the old USA. amazing, gorgeous.

and yep - what a day/night for Binks. Look at that +2. Binks? whatcha got planned, huh?

Were you the person who posted the uncanny torti likeness. Sometimes it is hard to respond to all the posts, but I kept wondering who had the Torti's. Was it you?

We have pet jelousy here too. Only sometimes the black cats are really mean to the Torti. Whiskers doesn't have front claws and has a hard time sticking up for herself. What to do? :?

:lol: it was me, cheryl. the Adoptocats are two tortie females i inherited from my sis...and they are my first brush with "tortitude" compounded by Alpha complexes and severe abandonment issues.
It's an education...but generally an amusing one...

my sis suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and is in a nursing home...so the kitties got left behind...
