Hello everyone, my name is Cami and my sweet girl is Olive.

Olive, who has gone into remission two times now, is unfortunately needing insulin again. I have used the Alpha Trak 2 meter in the past but the strips have gotten so expensive since they came out with the new model. After reading the not so great reviews on the new model and seeing that most of the folks on this forum use human meters, I have decided I would like to try a human meter. Anyone have suggestions of a meter they find reliable that is available in the US? I have tried to search on the forum but most of the ones I found were either not in the US or old posts that I wasn't sure were still relevant. Any help is appreciated. Thank you from me and my Ollie Boo!

Any idea what brought Olive out of remission?
Roughly, remission is numbers consistently between 50 and 120.

I believe when she was diagnosed, it was due to receiving sterpoids after taking her to the vet for a persistent cough. She went into remission and we were able to keep her that way. Then she needed surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus (she has the worst luck) and I believe the medication she was on after the surgery caused the second round of needing insulin but this most recent lapse, I'm not sure. She stopped eating her food and was so picky about what she would eat. I eventually found a brand that was low carb, that she would eat. It was a while after that I noticed signs that her glucose was high so I tested her. I'm not sure if it was the new food or what. It's been difficult to get her stable even with the insulin.

What a cutie Olive is ,almost all if us use human meters since that's what our numbers are based on

The need for a dental can bring a cat out of remission.
