Morning! Very nice Rusty - looking good in green.

Enjoy your hike - I hope it is wonderful, lots to see, and a nice snowy blanket on the ground. Have fun! I too bet Rusty is camped out on the radiator, thinking "what are they doing?! It's cold out there..."

While the beans are breaking in snowshoes, Rusty will make sure the home front stays warm.

Hi again,

It wasn't exactly wintry (40 degrees), but there was some snow and we did the hike on snowshoes (although we really didn't need to use snowshoes and some of us didn't). My new snowshoes are great to walk in, but very difficult to get on and off because the straps are just barely long enough to accommodate my boots. I foresee great problems in "real" winter conditions (frozen fingers from struggling with the straps on the bindings), so I'm going to return them and get a different brand. In the meantime, I'll use my old ones.

Rusty was fine this morning and ate the lunch I left in his automat. He's happy to have us home. When we got home he was chillaxin' on his perch above the radiator, and now he is taking his "down time" in his cube. The sun came out about 1/2 hour ago and the cube is in the sun. I'll wake him later at +9. My agenda for the afternoon: take down the Xmas tree (a day late!).

Bummer on the snow shoes. I have yet to find the best economical brand for fastening without having to remove gloves and freezing your fingers off. There is a company here in Flagstaff, Kahtoola, that makes wonderful snowshoes though expensive. I hear from friends the system is great without all the donning and doffing hassle, though I haven't been able to afford a pair, yet.

Hi again, Thanks for visiting Rusty today!

The Xmas tree is undecorated, but not to be taken down until tomorrow. It will be returned to "Mother Nature" in the woods part of our backyard. We will put it next to one of the depressions where the deer sleep to provide them with an extra barrier against the wind.

Liz: I have looked at the Kahtoola snowshoes (one of the local stores carries them). I may go back and look again, but I have read several negative reviews, so I'm not sure. I like the feature that you can use the crampons separately from the decking. I have a set of Kahtoola mountain spikes that I like a lot.

Rusty had a good dinner and shot and is sleeping in his bed by the radiator, waiting for us to come down to watch TV.

This weather is awful for the ski resorts around here.

awesome day for Rusty - awesome day for the bean. I am glad that you had a good hike, sorry that the snowshoes aren't quite right. Wish I could help you out, but know nothing of them - Something I hope to rectify in the future.

Tee hee... 40 degrees isn't winter. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I'm such a baby about the cold these days!! Probably because it's been in the 50-60s here... not winter at all!!

Rusty continues to look great!! Looks like he and Willie will be having late night fun at the lagoon!!

Good luck with the snowshoes!! We haven't even seen an accumulation, let alone an inch here yet this year... our snowhappy local weather guy is practically despondent!
