hi all,
i've had a rough night...been up with Rocket...it saddens me he has been in the bathroom floor all night (from his +7 to AMPS). i really don't know what's going on....fed baby food

i really don't wanna medicate him with the cypro...he has enough drugs in his system as is

this is frustrating/overwhelming/sad overall.....i'm oh so concerned...

amps 157...ate a lil bit of his food with 1 temptation as topping....in half hr he gets the pheno....will give more temptations then if needed

because i wanted to give him some insulin i gave probably less than 0.25u.....with his appetite less than ok...i gave a lil insulin....will keep a close eye on him....he came out to go pee and poo but he is now back in the bathroom....

((((Claudia)))) I know what you are going through, Ralphie still isn't his normal self, even though he had a good day after his dental was done, this morning he's back to standing in the corners. It is so frustrating and heart breaking to know that there is something wrong with them and we can't find out what it is or do anything to make it better.
I'm here for you, as well as all the other Lantus Land family members.
Rocket, please start to feel better soon. Mommy is worried about you.

gave a total of 8 temptations....he wouldn't even eat them....i had to cut them in half for him to show interest....less than half hr now until the pheno...

he is still in the bathroom....

good thing i had a nap yesterday at 2 pm....cause i've been up all night with him....

i notice a weird purring soon after the insulin....i can tell he will shake today as well....the insulin is fine...nothing wrong with it...have not shaken, it's in the fridge....all is well with that little bottle....but maybe the pheno levels and the insulin are doing him in....i don't know...i'm beyond tired....

(((((((Claudia & Rocket))))))), Just do the best you can and try to get some sleep. Rocket had a better day yesterday. This morning may be just a little setback. I'd like to think that later today he will be feeling much better.

claudia, how much do you estimate he's eating daily now? and how much was he eating before all this started?

I'm very sorry you had a rough night, Claudia. The CRF rollercoaster is very rough. I don't think I would withhold the cypro if it was working, but you know best. I hope Rocket will feel better today and that you can get some rest. Sending more prayers and vines.

he was eating close to 2 3oz cans per day....maintining his weight....
now ...well yesterday with so many cans opened and different stuff...he probably got the same....

this morning so far...and this is soooo strange

+1.5 he had 2 breffis (almost 1/4 can)
+2 171
+3 144...fed a tsp and ate it all while i held the dish
+4 115 ....no food
+5 113 ...fed 2 tsp almost of the can....

because i have to make the food soupy like for him to eat it....i add a lil tuna water...because i'm prepping the stuff as i go along to feed him i don't really know how much he is getting in....so will have to start weighin everything even after i prep the food....

i managed to keep him on the bed with me from +3.5 to +5....since i'm here in the dinning room typing away i can see he got up and is now in the bathroom floor laying down....

vet (not the owner but the other one) is not 'convinced' the bg levels going down are what's causing the tremors....i gather the other vet (the one that's been emailing me) is not in today....so we'll see what happens today

i will have to go out this afternoon hoping to buy different types of food...though i'm not sure i can even introduce him or transition him into anything new....but it will probably do me good to get out....

i'm mentally drained...ready to be committed....off and on i think i've slept probably 1 hr this morning so far....i haven't even fed Comet....the poor thing has been neglected with all that's happening...so with that said...off to feed him....

Claudia...all I can offer is our prayers and healing thoughts for your baby and for you as well. I worry about your health, too. I am hoping that, as already said, this is just a brief setback and he'll get back to doing better soon and have another good day like yesterday. Sending a flurry of snowflakes.

ears and whole body are warm to touch
when i test him i get a lot of blood even though the lancet thingy is set to the lowest one
took his temp rectally and was 38.08C....but not sure how accurate that is....the thermometer is old and i don't think the battery has ever been changed...don't have any spare batteries handy...so i'm gonna get ready and see if i can go buy food and get batteries....

+6 121......doesn't wanna eat....will try again before i go...he wants to go out....

Claudia,

I hope Rocket feels better soon. I know this has got to be so hard on you. Sending strength vines to you and Rocket. I agree getting out to get those things you need will do you some good. Hope you can get some sleep.

i went and bought a few cans of diff stuff....

wondering if the Evo 95% beef is low in phos as it only says low carb....

gave pepcid at 2:30 pm and i just fed him 3:15-3:30 pm....yeah took a while....testing to see if he would eat a lil bit of the Evo and to my shock he ate it willingly...this may change later of course as he may need to be transitioned to the food slowly...but for now he ate 2 1/2 tsp of the 95% Beef Evo....shocking cause he has never liked beef food only chicken....i put some liver dust on it with a lil bit of diluted tuna water...i had to hold the can (one of those FF cans instead of his reg dish)...for whatever reason in the past that has worked and like Carolyn has mentioned the worry they will cut their tongues...but he never has (fingers crossed)

for now i'm happy he ate

his ears feel warm to touch still....waiting half hr to take his temp...had to buy a new thermometer cause the one i had they couldn't figure out what type of battery needed (rip off but whatever..new thermometer =peace of mind it better work and give me proper reading)

vet has dismissed my theory with the trembling....all i get is "continue monitoring and tell us the updates"....easier for them to say....

have the feeling he will be high at pmps but i will take a quick nap here and recharge....

Janet and Binky's list puts the 95% Beef at 171 mg/100 kcal, which is pretty good. If you can stay under 200, you are doing well.

no nap...i tried...i just stayed in bed...pondering...i guess i'm over tired i can't sleep....

pmps 175...prepped him 3 tsp of Evo with liver dust and a lil tuna water....again he ate it and looked at me as though he wanted more so i rushed to get 1/2 TBSP of it with the same combo...he ate it all....

not sure how long the Evo liking will last...but for today...i take it....

thank you Linda for the info...i guess all the others i got are over 260 for phos...so no good...but oh well....if he goes off the Evo then trial and error finding something that will be ok for carb and phos....

we shall see what's in store for us tonight....

i really hope things are getting better....since this ordeal started i've lost 12 lbs...not the way i wanted to lose the weight...i eat but not sure where it's going....this in a matter of less than 1 week....this indeed is a rollercoaster...one i wish upon NO ONE!!!

will report later and hope it's good news...let's hope....

Glad to hear Rocket's eating, today at least. Enjoy it! Umm...12 lbs in a week? That's too much girl....please take some time to care for yourself, even tho I know it's difficult. Still thinking of you guys and sending tons of healing vines for you BOTH!

Hooray for EVO 95% beef! Accroding to Tanya's CRF list, EVO 95% chicken & turkey, EVO Turkey & chicken Cat & Kitten formula, and EVO 95% duck are also low in phos. (and I know they are also low carb, although the cat & kitten formula may be higher in fat, if that is a factor). http://www.felinecrf.org/canned_food_usa.htm

Claudia, we are thinking of you, praying for Rocket's recovery, and sending healing vines and snowflakes. Next time you lie down to sleep, try "turning off your mind" by visualizing something totally unrelated to Rocket's care. I used to think of black holes in the Universe when I had to break myself of the habit of "thinking" or "worrying" while trying to sleep. The other thing I think about if I have a "wide awake problem" is a beautiful, peaceful meadow.

stress will melt the weight off you, claudia...but it's not good weight loss. don't mean to sound like a mother hen...but even though you don't feel like eating...try bland foods in small amounts at least 4 times a day...if that doesnt work...try some Boost or Ensure supplement drinks...taste like crap but will give your body needed nutrition.
If this post is crossing a line...let me know and i'll delete it...but i'm worried about your health, girl.

Hope Rocket is doing better tonight. I know what you are feeling, I've had many sleepless nights caring for and worrying about my kitties over the years.

Hi Claudia and Rocket and Comet too!

I'm glad to see Rocket ate today. Hooray!

I once talked to my vet about Whiskers ears feeling very warm, and he told me that a cats ears are the warmest part of their body, so I should not be to concerned. Maybe that is the case with Rockets ears too.

Just like Rocket is doing, try to eat a little to keep your strenght up. Boost, ensure, a protien shake are all good ideas.

thank you for your concern of my well being....i will try the ensure things....yeah they have an after taste...but will do....

Rocket got up at +2 and i thought ok now it's the time to test and feed....so he was 133 and i managed to feed him 2 tsp of the Evo again....

problem is...i only got one can......so hopefully i will manage thru the night with it...and will have to get some more tomorrow morning....he is alert and though after the fluids tonight he wanted to stay in the bathroom i picked him up and took him to bed where he slept from +0.5 to +2

the ears are warm but so is his whole body....i took the temp earlier but didn't have a fever...then i meant to take it again and since he was sleeping and it was getting closer to poking him for pmps so i didn't take it....his body has now cooled off....it is so strange...face/body/paws/ears...pretty warm...and when i poke him i get lots of blood though it's at the lowest to prick him...

ok off to have some ensure! and please do continue to pray for us....don't forget us...we need your prayers....indeed!

So glad to hear he's eating. Please take care of you. You must eat and stay strong to care for him and just for your own well being. Yes...we are continuing to send many many prayers and healing vines.
