Good Morning, Everyone, and Happy Friday. And it's 12th Night! (time to take down the Xmas tree and decorations).

Rusty had a good night and woke us up this morning 2 minutes before the alarm with the "hairball hack". No hairball yet, but he's working on it. We had a good test, shoot & feed, a brief play with the tinsel wand, crinklesack, ladybug pole toy, and Big Bug, a good brushing/combing, and a New Year's weigh-in: 16 lbs. 11.5 oz (gained 2 ounces this week; gotta go back on the "diet"; I'd like to see him at 16 lbs.).

We got a little more snow last night, but the temperature is supposed to rise to above freezing today, and tomorrow we may get rain showers. This has been the strangest winter: the lakes aren't frozen yet, there isn't enough snow, and every time it gets cold and we get a little snow, it gets warm again. Everyone up here is worried.

This afternoon Edward and I are going for a hike on our snowshoes. It will be the first real trial of my new snowshoes. Tomorrow we're going snowshoeing again with some friends. Tonight we're going to another "Christmas dinner". One of our friends, who spent Xmas at her son's house, was disappointed that they didn't have a turkey dinner, so has decided to cook one herself and invite a bunch of us to come and eat it. It will be the 2nd party of the year. (We try for at least 20 parties per year, a "party" being defined as a gathering at which there is food and drink.)

Wishing everyone a good day. Sending lots of healing vines and prayers to Moonie, Tifil, Rocket, Zener, Sid and all kitties in need of them.

Morning everyone!

Sure do like that amps. well done Rusty - all this green lately sure does suit you. Good luck with that hairball... so so annoying I now.

Enjoy the snowshoeing - I hope your like your new snowshoes. Strange weather in so many places. I remember your winter last year! Sending more snow vines your way.

Too fun with your friend and the turkey christmas dinner. Sounds like god times. Enjoy!

Re: 1/6 Rusty AMPS 86

Still in those nice green numbers.   I hope your snow sticks around this time. i know on the weird weather. We had lots of nice early rains in Oct. and Nov., then in December nada. It's a little worrying, we only have a couple more months when we can get any rain for the year.

Have fun at your "Christmas" dinner. it sounds like a great group. A party about every 2 weeks is a good idea! :-D :-D

Looking nice and green this morning for Rusty. Enjoy your hike with Edward and new snowshoes! It sounds like you have some nice, fun social gatherings planned. Have a great time.

I love that run of green AMPS. Good job Rusty! Those pesky hairballs! I guess it's just an occupational hazard.

I hope your snowshoes work out well and you have a good hike. Now if the weather would just get right!

WOW...SWEET NUMBERS, RUSTY!!!!!

we've gone beyond worry up at the ranch to already working on prep for a semi-drought year
We're in better shape than most, as the operation is big with irrigation measures, sprinkler systems,
and access to the resources of 3 large lakes and a reservoir...
but the smaller local ranchers will be hard put to get through this year.
I will never forget the years we've had to break out the trucks and continually haul water to cattle...
and dread the fire danger as well.
(not to hijack your condo with local concerns  )

Re: 1/6 Rusty AMPS 86, +5.5 54

Celi: it's all related to global warming (of course, we all know that there is no such thing!!!). I get so depressed when I think that the world as we know it will not last much longer (and even more depressed when I think of the inevitable chaos that is on the way). Most people used to accept the fact that climate change is caused by what humans are doing to the Earth, now they have been so bamboozled by the very vocal climate-change "deniers" that they have turned off. As always, hypocrisy and greed win and the rest of us are left to pay for it. (my soapbox for today).

E.

p.s. I couldn't snowshoe today because there wasn't enough snow on the trails at the x-country center. Only skiing was permitted, and they advised people to use their old, beat-up skis!

So completely agreed!

and so sad that it's easier to choose to turn a blind eye rather than face a huge obstacle

Hi Ella,
So sorry you couldn't use your snow shoes today. It has certainly been unusual weather for January up here. I have buds coming out on my shrubs. I know it is shallow of me to enjoy the warm sunny weather. Speaking of footwear, I was astonished to see two ladies wearing flip flops outside today. :o

Hi again,
Several days of warm weather in January used to be known as the 'January Thaw", but this year we have barely had the freeze that precedes it! Linda, that's amazing about women wearing flip flops outside in January!

Our "2nd -Christmas" dinner party was lots of fun. Rusty was so happy to see us get home, just at his bedtime (he is such a creature of habit). Tomorrow morning we hope to snowshoe, but may just have to hike. 8 of us are going. It's a short hike (6 miles round trip) and will be nice regardless of the amount of snow on the ground.

Ni ni everyone. Sorry not to get to many condos today/tonight. Thinking of you all.

Love seeing Rusty in all those greens!!! Fabulous!!

Sorry you didn't get to go snowshoeing today....maybe tomorrow after all? Also glad you enjoyed the dinner. I bet it was yummy. Tobey wants to know if you made more cookies. It took lots of brushing to get all those crumbs out of his fur. And he said to tell you thank you for confirming that you are his OTHER best boy. He feels extra special.

Rusty..hangliding and pool party at our house tomorrow so we can make plans for the Full Wolf Moon party!! Tobey wants you to bring your mamabean.
