Hi roni - SO GLAD to read that Moonie is better this morning. It is so scary when they can't keep anything down.

Hope all is well with the hyper -t test. no clue on the meds... wishing you luck with everything!
 
OK Vet finally called & said that Moonie's Hyper T test was borderline normal--first she said normal then she said even though the test said normal she could still be hyper T ---WTH!!!! :shock: :shock:
This vet looked like she was 14, and couldnt explain herself..She said the total T4 is borderline range, no free t4 done???? WHAAAA???? Moonie's creatine & BUM was 43, & normal is 36 so she is a little higher than normal, which we knew...
Test results will be sent to my real vet who will be in tomorrow & will explain to me..
Seemed to me this one wanted me to spend more!! On more tests???
I am leaving it alone, as Moonie is seen every 3 mths, & gets BW then too.We will work with whatever it is.
I am so pooped---BTW no poop yet..We are waiting- For-Magical poo to appear!

The thing about hyper-T is that sometimes it takes a while for it to show up on BW even tho the cat may be clinically showing signs of it. This happened with Teddi; but no good vet will start meds until the tests are conclusive. The ideal thing is to look at total and free T3 and T4. I always sent Teddi's blood to Hemopet.com as Dr. Dodds is an expert on feline hyperT. She is also excellent at interpreting geriatric cats thyroid tests as they can be a little different.

If you look on her website: www.hemopet.com you can see the charges...I think it is $41 for the f/T T4 and T3. There are instructions for having your vet do the blood draw and getting it ready to ship. My vet was always happy to do it; the process was simple; results quick. Dr. Dodds looks at them herself and provides interpretation.
