Yesterday's Condo

Gabby had another lovely surf overnight. She did wake me this morning by depositing a hairball on the bathroom mat. (Couldn't she have done this yesterday when I was doing laundry?) The kitties are in their respective spot waiting for the next installment of breakfast.

Hi Sienne
Great to see Gabby with these nice numbers. Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year's Day.

What a beautiful cycle for Gabby- not my favorite way to start the day- being greeted by the AM Hairball, but what are you going to do LOL!

Where would the fun have been in doing the hairball on laundry day!

The typical dose of methyl B-12 is 3 mg. I would talk to your vet before doubling the dose. I recently heard about a person who was overdosing on B12. It takes probably a couple of months before you can expect to see a change

Jeepers creepers you think you've done your research and then... I have now found some info suggesting that too much B12 can lead to or aggravate cancer, there are several references to a French study in animals that I haven't been able to locate yet. However the 'other side' argues strongly that it's not possible to OD on orally ingested B12.

Do you have any further details on the person that had the B12 OD. Particularly whether they were taking it orally or getting injections, how long hey had been taking it, whether they had other health issues and what their OD symptoms were?

Unfortunately the vet knows nothing about B12, they had never heard of it being used in cats before so they won't be able to help. Purrdy has been taking it since October (before his FD dx) at a dose of 3mg/day (1.5 BID) with no improvements. This may be because his leg issues are unrelated to his FD and it's not going to help him or because he's not getting enough. He's 6kg so not a small cat.

Thanks for pointing this out Sienne.
