Numbers have been good but it's been 3 days since his last poop :( Now that I started recording it, I'm getting really worried. Is there anything I can feed him to help with this? When he was constipated before, I would see him go into the litterbox and *try* to poop. but I only see him go in to pee, no lingering. He's peeing 2-3x a day. Is that a lot? I also notice the smell is stronger than usual. I'll do a ketone strip tomorrow.

Hi Christina, sorry to hear Kitty Cat is constipated. This has been a problem for Ruby since she was diagnosed. I give her a half a capsule per day of Jarrow’s S. Boulardii probiotic that also contains MOS, a prebiotic, which you can get on Amazon. I also feed her some powdered egg yolk from Food Fur Life. Both have made her more regular and her poop is softer. I also add a lot of water to her food, at least 1 part water to two parts food. Even though it’s winter and cold, the heating in our houses can be dehydrating for kitties. For something more immediate that you can buy at the pharmacy during a snowstorm, a lot of people here give their cats Miralax, ⅛ tsp to start. Hope something works for Kitty!

Hi Christina - For poop, there is lots of good info on https://felineconstipation.org/prevention.html (the whole site is great, but lots of things to try on the prevention page I linked). Track what you give and watch the litterbox.

I personally use miralax for Jax. Start at 1/8th teaspoon twice a day with 2 teaspoons water (I mix it in his AMPS and PMPS meals). - if Jax's poops get too loose, I back off the miralax a bit (though we've found our magic dose for now). Pumpkin is another good tool, it just didn't help Jax but worth trying especially if you have it in your pantry.

I see Katherine posted too - I use S.Boulardi with MOS too but Miralax has helped Jax's poop the most. ECID.

Not sure on the pee - is that what he was peeing before dx?

Stay safe with the snow :cat:

Hi!

I waited too long and had to take Tina for an enema. After a second enema not working, she had a manual extraction. Poor baby turned out fine, and I now always look for those daily deposits.
Several months later, I'm still giving Miralax 1/8 tsp twice daily. I also use the egg powder - EZ Egg Yolk, and Tina's coat is softer with it too!
I also give fish oil . . . Nordic Naturals Omega 3 for pets. I'm thinking it may help.

The dank smelling urine could be a UTI.
Wishing you and Kitty Cat well!

Thanks for all the help! This snowstorm is crazy. I also forgot to do a ketone strip today but will set a reminder for tomorrow.
It's supposed to snow all day tomorrow as well but I might be able to get some miralax. He pooped today, a few hours before PMPS.
I think he's been peeing more than normal. I wasn't recording before but it just seems more frequent now. Maybe because of the tiki cat in broth food? He's back to the FF pate for now, trying to switch things up.

Yay for poop! for Miralax, can you walk to a Duane Reade / Walgreens? Just buy the store brand version - this is what I have - https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/w...wder-(peg-3350)-14-day/ID=prod6007903-product - and actually if you have a Walgreens account it's saying there is a $2 coupon to clip in the app. I give it regularly but I know some people just keep it on hand to give as a small dose when kitty isn't as regular.
