So this morning both of Gus’ ears were cold and not red… Yay.. but the moment I warmed the one up and poked it was red and warm again (not like the usual warmed up from the rice sock) in just the one ear.
I’ve never dealt with allergies before but it’s seems a little off from how an allergy would react… maybe I’m wrong. Does anyone have experience with high blood pressure/diabetes in cats?
Read that entire page when you sent it to me on the red/hot ears portion… scared me a bit. Guess I was more wondering if anyone with a cat (or knows of a cat) who has hypertension and diabetes if they have this happen as well - long shot but thought I’d throw it out there
I spoke with my RTV on Saturday and the plan was if he’s not better by Monday that we would arrange something.
His ears seem to be cooling off now and not red/hot.. better than this morning actually. This amps after I warmed his ear, it stayed warm and red for a little bit but didn’t do that throughout the day.
I’m going to wait a day or two and see if it goes away completely (like, the little things now) he seems normal in every way but that… If it comes back to being red/hot on his own, no fooling around, I’ll get him checked immediately.
Im also going to try the small things and eliminate chicken for a few days and see what that does..
Just gonna talk here.. how cool is it that Dr. Kris is my Vet… I was so proud to see Chris post his video and you mention you also came across him too.. I feel super lucky to have him - which I felt that way already but more so now. I think I also mentioned to you a while back that his RVT is my best friend from elementary school <3
A good friend of mine that I was talking about in chat who adopted her second CKD kitty recently… Well, with her first she was torn.. didn’t know whether to put her baby down or to fight CKD (it was overwhelming) … she came across Kris’ video and a report he wrote and she decided to continue on, it gave her hope! Emma lived for 6 plus years after that with stage 3 CKD… she was 20 years old.
I introduced her to my vet when Emma was going down hill a bit this summer and it was like the universe was saying something… she put two and two together and realize he was the man who gave Emma years more of a happy senior life. It was so sweet!
Yeah, I first encountered him when researching meloxicam but I also came across his video on SubQ fluids. It make a world of a difference to have a competent vet!
Wow. 6 more years with CKD Stage 3. Bandit's CKD progressed from Stage 2 to Stage 3 in September/October and she was so unwell, we were sure this was it. But she really turned around with fluids and meds. Doing great now. Getting labs done to see where her CKD is at now.
The meloxicam really helped Budge. Cartrophen and supplements (glucosamine/chondroitin) made no difference. Even with meloxicam she seems to be a little stiff this "winter". Hoping it will resolve once we are back to hot and muggy!
How nice of Gus to give greens in the day and bounce at night...now that I've gone and said it....
