Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4550

Morning, LL.

So, Esse is at 152 this morning. Scary cool, and I shot the full 2.5 dose. I don't know where she went overnight, because I was asleep, but most of the overnight food was gone. Surprised me to see the reading, and yes, a bit scary, but also kinda cool.

WCR: Happy, content, loving the extra small basket for her extralarge body...taking her post breakfast bath.
WBR: Have to get working on a paper due, and so will be able to stay around this morning for a while and will test a bit.

We will see what happens over the next few hours...

Re: 1/31: Esse AMPS=152

I hope you're feeling better today. I had written a long note last night that I managed to erase before posting. This sugar dance can be very frustrating. Just when you feel like you've taken a few giant steps forward, we take one or two back. In the beginning of this odyssey, I would see kitties who came and went in a matter of weeks and I would become hugely disappointed thinking that I was doing something wrong or that Gabby would not have a chance of going OTJ or becoming tightly regulated. It's taken a while to get comfortable with acknowledging that she is the one who is in the lead in this adventure. Esse will tell you where this is going and how fast you're going to get there. Some days, it's a heart pounding, breathless run; some days a slow, stroll; and other days we're sitting on a park bench waiting. (I think today might be a little breathless in this condo, but you never know.)

Re: 1/31: Esse AMPS=152

Wow...nice AMPS...you will get a +1 maybe?
So glad you will be home to watch her this morning. Doing good Esse girl! :-D

Re: 1/31: Esse AMPS=152

Sienne, I don't know if she's going up or down...I slept up until 5:45!! How too cool for words to "sleep in" like that...but yeah, I think I agree...today will be a bit on the 'run' side. I know it's a dance Esse leads...but like you, I wonder what I'm doing wrong sometimes...and then a number like this shows up, and I think "well, dang it, what's going on here?" LOL.

Pat, I am getting a +1...due in three minutes. BRB w/ the number...

Will you look at that? She's surfing the low 200s...pretty darned cool to see. She's up and eating now, but has been a snuggle kitty all morning, laying in her undersize basket and observing the world from the dining table...

Surf, EsseMama, surf!

Yes, nice...until now. She's up to 278. She has been known to doubledip, and that's what I can hope for...

So, because I had roasted a few chickens yesterday (for me and for Dad), I cut a bit up for the herd to top their dinner...and they're lovin' it.

Esse is 287, and I shot 2.5. Given how quiet the day was, it could be an interesting night...but since it's a school night, I'm heading to bed early and will be up early, too. However, that does not mean that I won't get a +1, and a +2 tonight...and a +10 in the wee dark hours...

Mmm mmm mmm! Roast chicken!
Esse thanks you and says "More please!"
Yeah, no kidding. She walked from dish to dish, hoping that one of the herd had left over some scrap...and has been lurking me ever since, hoping I'll give her a bit from my plate. But that's not at all likely...LOL...

She cracks me up sometimes...loves her roasted chicken...when it's in the oven, she sits right next to it, hoping the door will open and she can feast without me noticing...

Michele,
That's Shadoe's main snacks, other than the bought Pure Snacks.

I get a bunch of chicken breasts at the market, steam cook them, then cube the lot of them and toss them into little containers and freeze them. I take out a container every few days to have thawed in the frig for Shadoe.
When she comes up whining in the 2hr ps shot window, she gets a couple little chunks of the chicken and it tides her over.
I also use them to test if she is really sick, not hungry or just being a fuss pot!
finally, the chicken would be ideal to coax a hiding Esse out for testing or other non-fun stuff.

Re: 1/31: Esse AMPS=152 +11=256 PMPS=287 +1=293

Gayle, I usually roast a chicken a week, and I make sure that the herd gets their share. LOL. Esse doesn't really hide - she may avoid you, but she doesn't really avoid-avoid you, and I can't recall the last time she was truly "hiding and don't you dare find me" kinda thing. She has been known to ignore things, like me, but she really is a good girl and, out of all my herd, she is the easiest, most compliant, and most forgiving. She's never given me an ounce of trouble with poking or shooting. Even the petsitters from Christmas had zero problem locating, testing, and shooting the Mamacat.

I'm wondering, however, if the skin is good for them. Not in huge amounts, but some skin here and there...

I think the freezing in small baggies might be good - but remember; I have the herd of 9, and if one gets something, they all get it...otherwise there's ego bruising and fights, and that's just not fun. LOL...

Michele,
Because you have a herd, then all the better to cook up a bunch ahead of time, then just pack the pieces up in herd-of-9 size containers haha_smiley

I don't get chicken with the skin on and even if I get some with skin on, I toss it. I did not think it was good.

We can't have hurt feelings and I know that Booboo gets real angry if she perceives an imbalance of attention!

I agree with Libby re. the flat yellow.

As far as chicken skin, if the kitties were in the wild do you think they'd bother to skin the chicken? It probably contains the fat that's good for their coats and who knows what else. I think on Dr. Lisa's site, she mentions that she grinds some skin into her raw food.
