Good Wednesday morning,

Well, I didn't quite make my bedtime goal last night, but I was close...40 minutes earlier than usual! Can't feel a difference, but will try again tonight! :lol: Shasta seems good this morning. Pretty good appy, some preening (a little too much cleaning of the nether regions which leads me to believe we're about to deal w/ anal sac issues :shock: ). Lately, she's hasn't been overly interested in playing. Yeah, a few seconds of sassy string or da bird, but she just gets to staring...like she's in a trance. :? I don't know what to do/think. She's been like this for several weeks. She becomes more active when sassy fingers start harassing her, but she also becomes more aggressive (nothing I can't handle and nothing more so than usual.) :YMSIGH: Oh blah!

It's supposed to be blah today. Front moving in today...rain and highs of 87ish. UGH! At least it's bringing cooler weather tomorrow. Ok, time to get this hair whipped into shape for the day! Blessings to all the kitties and beans!

Question: I am using a vial of Lantus and I know many of you use the pens of Lantus. What are the pros/cons of the pens versus the vial? AND, if pens are a better option due to such small doses, do I need to ask my vet to write the prescription to specify that?

AMPS=235 (4% FF Chicken 1.1oz & miralax)
+1=247
+1.5=174 (3% FF T&G 2oz)
PMPS=212 (4% FF Chicken 1oz & atenolol)
+1.5=186
+3=114 (3% FF T&G .80oz)
+4=126

Re: 1/30 Shasta AMPS=235

Morning guys well 40 min is better than no minutes right? Hope you are not going to have anal sac issues, paws crossed! Have a great day!

Hi guys .. what a nice slow slide down for shasta this morning .. I hope you can get a few more minutes of sleep tonight .. Maybe it is just the heat that is making her not want to play so much? Hope you have a great day!

Re: 1/30 Shasta AMPS=235 +1=247 +1.5=174

87? Wow, that just sounds insane for this time of year! :lol: Maybe that is contributing to Shasta not wanting to play. Glad you got to bed earlier last night. Hoping for no anal sac issues. Have a great day!

Thanks Michelle, Michelle, Devon & Anne for visiting today! Nothing new here with Shasta. I think I'm just paranoid, but I swear there is something up with her...besides her numbers. I need to make time to call the vet and ask about getting a new prescription for Lantus. I'm going to shut down my computer in ~10 minutes. Hope everyone has had a good day and everyone is safe from this crazy storm system making it's way across the mid & eastern coast.

Good night!

We use a vial too. Anne thinks its easier to draw from. I hope Shasta is ok. Sometimes I think we watch our kitties so closely that we have a panic attack if their whiskers are crossed. :roll: :lol: Could the staring be a stomach/digestion issue?

I know...I'm worried that I'm becoming a hypochondriac for my cat!!! Besides the staring, she's doing some weird, erratic/sporadic twitching (sometimes head, sometimes front paw(s), sometimes back paw(s)), the weird "walk, suddenly stop and scratch herself or bite herself like a crazy cat." And yes, the crossed whiskers do cause panic attacks for me. :sad: :lol: I swear I remember reading a condition that had similar symptoms. ugh! :roll:

Could be allergies. Do you still have fleas this time of year where you're located?

I use the pens. The two pros are that they end up being more economical. They are especially economical if you drop the vial. If you drop the vial you lose everything. If you drop a pen, you only lose very little insulin.

Good point, Sienne. Our civie Tillie has itchy skin and she does what you describe Shasta doing. It's gotten a ton better since she switched to wet food with Zener.

I hope everything is fine with Shasta. Her numbers look good. I also is the pens and Gracie is on a low dose. Mi just like using them so much more than the vial.

Hope you are all better.
