Good morning,

Sitting here watching Shasta inhale her breffis. Makes me happy because her appy wasn't the greatest later last night. Could have been because I had a friend over and/or because I was irritating her by looking in her mouth. Oh well, she's eating well this morning.

I was able to get a good pic of a suspicious spot in her mouth (on her tooth). Check out yesterday's condo...about halfway down the condo. It has me a bit worried. I emailed the vet last night w/ the pic, so hopefully I'll hear back from him today. Also, I'm still praying that my little Shasta didn't swallow two little pieces of ribbon. In my mind, there is no way she would have been able to do it in such a tiny amount of time. Normally when she gets a hold of anything of the sort, she sits there and chews on it so that I see what she did. I just don't think she would inhale them in a span of like 15 seconds. Anyway, keeping my eyes open for her daily poop. :YMSIGH:

Got a few purrs this morning, a tiny amount of preening, some pee, some play last night. Just keeping my fingers crossed w/ the poop and answers about her tooth. Headed back to bed...my vacation days are starting to run out. I will miss my going back to bed mornings. :YMSIGH: I'll be back later.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Blessings to all!

Morning guys, I looked at the pic, I have no idea but hopefully your vet will get back to you today! Paws crossed it is nothing serious! Enjoy your btb! Glad to hear Shasta's appy was good this morning. Hope you don't see any ribbon in the poop but I am sure you will be on poop patrol today lol! have a great day and enjoy the rest of your vaca!

Re: 1/3 Shasta AMPS=257

Hi Deborah, I saw the pic, too, and hope the Vet returns your call/E-mail. Have you been able to touch that spot on her tooth? I can understand the worry. If she did swollow, I hope it comes out in her poop. My GA kitten (at the time) swollowed part of a string, and it took a lot of Laxaire (or something similar) for him to poop it out! Is Shasta eating today? Sending lots of vines for Shasta. keep us posted.

Hi guys .. just took a look at yesterday's photo .. no advice on what that could be, e mailing your vet was probably a wise idea .. And hopefully if shasta did eat the ribbon, it comes out today with no problem .. but you're probably right and she didn't have time to eat it up .. have a great day guys!

Hi Michelle & Scrabble, definitely on poo patrol today. She did leave me a prezzie last night, but no ribbon. And if she didn't eat the ribbon, I'm thinking of checking myself into the looney bin! First I saw them...then I didn't! @-)

Hi Ann & Maggie, I didn't try touching the thing on her tooth. Figured I was already pressing my luck with my fingers holding open her lips! Shasta is eating and acting pretty normal so far. We went back to bed, got up for a +2 poke, and then went back to bed :-D . We are now chilling on the couch and I will continue to monitor her (and her LB) throughout the day. Thanks for the vines! and yes, I will keep everyone posted...hopefully, it's nothing serious!

Hi Devon & Mocha (and Peter), she's definitely not acting like anything is different or wrong...as opposed to any other day. I'm still waiting to hear from the vet's office. In fact, I'm thinking of calling them just to make sure that they've received the emails. Trying not to be pushy, but just concerned about that thing on her tooth. If it's not one thing...it's another! This is exactly why I don't have children...I'm such a worry wort!

Hope you all have a wonderful day with happy, healthy kitties!

Response from my vet regarding Shasta's tooth pic and the possibility of swallowing ribbon...

The little bit of pink gum tissue is just a small amount of proliferative gum tissue and is nothing to worry about. If she swallowed some ribbon bits they should pass harmlessly. If they cause and obstruction then she will stop eating completely and start vomiting profusely.

I'm not worried about the ribbon...she's eating great and shows no signs of slowing down! I'm still worried about the tooth thing. :YMSIGH:

for those of you who didn't see...

2 tiny points of good in Shasta's evening

1. She jumped up on the lowest level of her new kitty condo all by herself while I was sitting on the floor working on a craft! dancing_cat
2. Little dip into the greens tonight!

Still no poo with ribbon...assuming she ate the ribbons. I'm 98% sure she didn't eat them. She had the opportunity to eat little bits of ribbon ends tonight (I was watching to see if she would) and she just sat there and looked at them. :?

Also, still concerned over her teeth. Between the picture I got last night and the way she "attacks" her sassy string (it's almost like she gums it versus bites at it like she used to do...even 4 months ago.) She's also become a very sloppy eater...food on the sides of her face, down her front; sometimes, she'll lean her head to the side while she chews, almost like she's trying to get the food to one side so that she can chew it. I'm not sure what I fear more: dental problems or the need to put her under anesthesia to fix possible dental problems. :YMSIGH:

Oh well...small steps, right?!

Shasta, you are a wild thing - jumping on the condo and then dipping in the lagoon! Woohoo! Detective Poo will be checking on the poo situation. That is her specialty.
