Well had to switch things up for Musette and all the kitties as my schedule is about to change to where I'm not going to be home all day anymore to split dose her and feed every 6 hours. Starting Jan. 20th I re-enter the land of the working....Yay!!!
So I have had to shift everyone off their 4 small meals a day to just 2 meals a day at Musette's shot times, which actually seems to be working better for Mz. Musette. At first I tried just feeding twice a day, and still split dosing her, (she could go to work with me). But the smaller doses with the extra food was causing some big bounces for her. So tonight I went with her full dose with her evening meal and so far so good. Beautiful prehot number and no larger food spike.
Now to just see how she settles into the new regime. If she can just stay where she is right now number wise I would be one happy woman, and she will be a happier kitty.
At first the civies weren't too happy about the two big meals a day but have adapted pretty quicky, and Musette & Maxwell actually seem to perfer this mode of eating as they are both natural grazers and this leaves them plenty of food to snack on without feeling like they have to bolt their food to keep the civies at bay...lol.
I also have a couple of weeks still that DH is going to be out of town still so I can monitor Musette more at night to see if this new schedule is going to work for her before I have to decide if I need to haul her to work with me or not. Luckily I will be working for a local rescue so if she needs to come to work with me there will be no problem with her being there. If fact my new boss suggested that I bring her if I needed to, as well as any of my other critters that just want to come hang with mom at work.
The rescue is mostly a cage free place, although we do cage the new intakes until they can be given a clean bill of health, but other than that they are in a large compound and allowed to roam free. But since I would be in the office Musette could come hang out with me. I get to do the fun part I get to handle the paperwork for the adoptions! And help socialize the kittens and puppies...Really looking forward to getting back to work after 2 years of sitting on my butt.
