Yesterday was an ugly mostly pink, bounce recovery day.

1/28 Recap:
AMPS 448 +4 325 +8 302
PMPS 352 +4 375

1/29 so far:
AMPS 283 +3 236 +6.5 78  (vetty visit @ +7) +7.5 70

Today was annual wellness exam and 6 months post SRT vetty visit day. They got blood for general workup and T4 and urine for general analysis and C&S. Apparently my little girl is an angel, one of the easiest cats to handle and they didn't have to shave her. :-D Neko's weight is back up to her pre diagnosis weight, both good and bad. She could probably be a bit down - I blame the gravy she's been getting lately. On the down side, the vet detected a heart murmur for the first time. This could be early signs of hyper T. Depending on the results of the B/W, we may be going for a cardiac work-up.

I did warn the vet that Neko was at her nadir, she has never had such a low number at vetty. All the other times we've gone for B/W she has been in the middle of a bounce. The vet knows I test, but I'll be curious to hear what her reaction is to that lovely 70's surf Neko has going on.

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +6.5 78 +7.5 70 Vetty - heart murmur

Nice numbers Neko!

the heart murmur is one of those things that sometimes shows up at the vets, and then the next time they check it's all gone away! they are weird! course Cats make it doubly weird! Glad to see that Neko is doing so well !

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +6.5 78 +7.5 70 Vetty - heart murmur

I'm sorry to hear about the heart murmur. I hope it's not something serious. I had a couple of cats that had a heart murmur detected, but nothing ever came of it. They were fine and the vet never thought they needed any special treatment. That's nice to see those greens today, especially at the vet.

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

+8.5 69
Still sailing along on this nice surf. Interesting to see that the vet visit doesn't seem to have impacted her BG at all.

@Pip - The heart murmur was a level 3 out of 6 so not minor. We'll see what the B/W says first. There's a vet that does home visits I've been thinking of trying. I wonder if that would make a difference.

@Carla - My Buster (GA) had a heart murmur and turned out to have HCM but not detected until too late. I'm going to be hyper vigilant about this. It was nice to see greens instead of pinks (her normal) at the vet.

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

Sorry to hear about the heart murmur. I have 2 cats and a dog with murmurs. Shnookie has hyperthyroid also, but the murmur is unrelated to that. He does have some minor thickening of the heart wall, and does have a cardiologist, but so far he's been asymptomatic and is not under treatment. We don't know what Kibby's murmur is about yet, he has no thickening, no hyperthyroid, and no treatment, just not allowed to have prednisone anymore. Rumpy the dog has a congenital valve issue, but so far asymptomatic and no treatment for him either. They have all seen cardiologists and had a baseline echo done. I hope Neko's turns out to be nothing serious. Nice run of green today!

Sorry about the heart murmur. I hope they figure it out and it is nothing serious. ((((Wendy))))

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

Wendy, I want to say something soothing and optimistic to you, without sounding flip. I know you're worried. Can I just send hugs instead? :YMHUG:

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

Wendy, I hope that the cause of the murmur can be found and that whatever it is, is will be something easily treatable. Thinking positively.

Hugs from us,

Ella & Rusty

Adding my positive vines to the pile!!! Nice surf for Neko today, too!!

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

Very nice greens.

Sending positive vines regarding the T4 and heart murmur. My Teddi Bear had a heart murmur the last six years of her life. She developed hyperT the last year. I had her echoed several times and she never showed any heart disease. Just had a teeny leak in a valve. Her murmur had nothing to do with it when she crossed. We gave her fluids every day for the last year for her CKD and it never affected her heart.

Gussie also had a heart murmur develop when he was 10. He was hyperT. We did I131 and everything went back to normal.

Hugs hugs hugs.

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

Wow, lovely green surf today!   Especially for going to the vet. I love this about LL. You've probably gotten a pretty good idea of the possible scenarios with a heart murmur. I hope Neko's is completely benign. Anne asked me about Neko's dose, I think I see from her SS that she's at 2.75 from a high of 8.5. Wow, that is great!

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

Beautiful numbers today, Neko! Wendy, I'm sorry to hear about the heart murmur. Alas, I know nothing about kitties and heart murmurs, so have no words of wisdom to offer. I do hope the tests are conclusive and the murmur is easily treatable.

Sending prayers and hugs -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Re: 1/29 Neko AMPS 283 +7.5 70 +8.5 69 Vet - heart murmur

Hi Wendy - very nice numbers today for Neko. I too would love to hear what the vets says when that number comes back on her BW. We went though that with Mannie 2 BW Panels ago. He came back with a 60, and they called me, way too low they said... LOL! I am sorry about the heart murmur though - hope it is nothing too serious. It would probably be a good idea to get a a baseline echo done, then you'll have a full picture of just what is going on. How nice to have the option of a home vet visit - might be worth the try... sure wish I had that when we were/are dealing with Mannie's BP issue. In that case testing at home would be ideal. Good luck, with Many hugs.

Re: 1/29 Neko PMPS 109 - vetty visit

PMPS 109
Back from a board meeting that ran long, so test and shoot were 20 minutes late. Don't want to think what that PS would be if we weren't late. The joy of Neko is that I can test/shoot/feed as I know she will eat. She did have a lovely day today after all that pink lately.

And to each of you that responded today :YMHUG: many big hugs. Thank you so much. I was freaking a bit. My Buster(GA) had a heart murmur that never went above a level 2 and he had HCM which we discovered too late. Depending on the B/W, I like the suggestion of an echo, even if it's just a baseline. Heart issues are something acrocats have to worry about, even though Neko's tumor was small and we had SRT. Other than her higher dose (up to 8.75 units) this is the first time I've seen anything else that might be related to acromegaly. *#%$ tumor!

@Anne, Melissa, Barb, Ella, Amy, Marje, Liz, Roni, Libby, Rhiannon, Rich, Michelle - thanks so much for your support, hugs, personal experiences, and suggestions. (and song Rich, listening mellowed me down). Without LL I'd be feeling a lot crazier.

Re: 1/29 Neko PMPS 109 +2 156 +4 61

Hi Wendy,
Just read your condo. Sorry about the heart murmur..I think she's gonna be OK. It's not Buster. and you know a lot more now.
Nice day she had yesterday

Re: 1/29 Neko PMPS 109 +2 156 +4 61

Oh Wendy the feeder came today. They make 2 types - a 6 compartment and a 4 compartment - Which do you have?

Will setup tomorrow, need to get 4 C batteries. :) And I also followed your suggestions and downloaded the better instructions.

Typical late onset and then the dive. She seems to be leveling out now. Neko nadir's anywhere from +4 to +9 when she starts in blue. Hoping she'll surf here for a while.

@Rich - The music was great. We are sailors so know the song. I needed it after today and getting back late for PMPS.

@Shelly - You are right. I know SO much more than two years ago with Buster. I regret that but will use the knowledge with Neko.

Re: 1/29 Neko PMPS 109 +2 156 +4 61 +4.5 66

Morning (here) Wendy, just catching up on little Neko's Vetty visit and heart murmur. I hope it's nothing serious or to worry about with the murmur. You've gotten a lot of great feedback from Beans whose kitty had the same, so glad it's making you feel better. Sending Neko lots of good and positive vines. What a great cycle, too. Hugs from us.

Re: 1/29 Neko PMPS 109 +2 156 +4 61 +4.5 66

Interesting looking bowl. I checked, Frostybolwz is not available on Amazon.ca and Amazon.com won't ship to Canada. Typical. When I searched Amazon.ca for chilled cat bowl, it showed me a regular bowl embossed with 24 Karat. Raw food lasts about 10 seconds on Neko's plate so I don't worry about it hanging around, but the civie takes a little longer (depending on the protein). It would be nice to find a stainless steal autofeeder solution instead of plastic.

Time to test again.

Re: 1/29 Neko PMPS 109 +2 156 +4 61 +4.5 66

Wendy, if you ever need help. I could be your import/export agent and forward stuff to you. :)

+5.5 65
I hate 60's surfs in the middle of the night, almost as much as the 50's surfs. One more test and then I'll abort with HC. Need sleep.

@Ann - Thanks for stopping by. The people here are a wealth of knowledge and support. Couldn't do it alone.

@Rich - I have a friend who visits Bellingham frequently (has friends there) so I have an "supplier". Thanks for the offer.
