@Wendy&Neko I haven't tried plain meat because he has no teeth but I do have a little very thinly sliced roast beef I could tear into little pieces and see if he likes it (and can eat it)

Another interesting day here in Garfield-land!

So far, so good. I figure he'll be showing up any time now for his afternoon snackies so I'll see if he can eat some plain meat. Will try to remember to get some chicken and bake some up soon. (been wanting to make some chicken alfredo for myself anyway)

I'll try to get a test an hour or two after snackies and see if that's part of the problem.

ETA: He ate some of the roast beef and a little freeze dried duck treat.

At the risk of hijacking this post, but not wanting to repost on Chris' previous post and bump it, I just wanted to mention to Wendy that this link was a FASCINATING discussion. I've bookmarked it and will probably re-read it again.

Chris, I'm keeping an eye on your food experiment--I'm glad you're seeing some good results.

First you have to see if there is a reason he is losing duration, such as snacks after nadir. The insulin effects fades after nadir and carbs can make it wear off even faster. Sometimes it's just that the type of insulin being used doesn't last quite as long in that particular cat. Lots more in this post:

Happy that you're learning from it! That's one of the great things about this board!

OK...finally got my Chewy order and we're trying the Weruva "The Slice is Right" which is 9.9% tonight. So far he's eating it, but other than his main 3 foods, he tends to eat something once or twice and then he won't touch it.

The experiment continues

When it became more difficult for Neko to eat solid food (blasted acromegaly!) I added water to meat and used an immersion blender to make meat mousse. If I was boiling chicken I would save the water for the mix.
