Good morning Everyone,

This is an unusually low AMPS for Basil. He's going to need some watching today.

He was affectionate and frisky this morning. Last night was hilarious. He went out to the fenced yard at about 11:30pm and came in all wide-eyed and excited. Must have been the full moon. So, I gave him his fuzzy purple mouse and he leaped straight up into the air and into an empty laundry basket, where he proceded to chase the mouse around and around. (So much for the leg being sore, I guess!) Later, he wrapped himself around the leg of a kitchen chair on his back and twirled around "after" the mouse which was attached to one of his rear claws. It was very funny.

Oops! I guess I should have done a +1!! Bad bean!

But wowsers! This is low. He's eating some LC now. Seems just fine. Happy and purring.

Should I stick with the LC? I know I need to test again in 30 minutes.

Lydia, your turn for excitement today.
I don't have the low numbers experience but I hope you have lots of test strips.
The big guns are going to have you testing every 15 minutes, especially at a low +2 number.
Hang in there.

I am around all day and have nearly 200 strips!

He went up by 5 in 15 mins after some LC. I gave him some more LC.

He looks great.

I think I smell a dosecrease.

Smells like a dosecrease to me, too. Get confirmation, though.

Great job! Keep monitoring though. Get a +2.5 and if surfing or rising, I'd get a +3 and figure out how closely you need to monitor from there.

Nice little rise @ +2.5. I feel okay waiting until +3. He is looking very pleased with himself and all those snackies.

Looking good here!

Based on prior experience with Basil, I'd be inclined to not test again until +5 or +6. Thoughts, anyone?

Nice start of the day!!!! I see Basil was a show off this morning!! :-D That's wonderful.
Good question about the dosecrease..... tough call because Dx in Aug is in the 'somewhat' recent category and 41 is <50 and >40 - I think I need an award for figuring this out, don't you??? :lol:
I wonder if Basil is in the shaved-dose fan club. A lot of cats are in that group.
Let's see what others have to have.... lots of time before PMPS.

Also, with respect to your question re: testing. 15 mins is a bit much for now - steady increase in the last 2 hours - so if you want to do hourly, it's fine... but of course, 0.5 hour is also ok....it's whatever you are comfortable with.

Way to go Basil!!!

So, he's at a tidy little 84 for +6.

Helene, Since he was diagnosed on September 3 (his DOB is Aug 10; I fixed the Profile to make that clearer), does that help? I mean, 41 practically IS 40 and all... ;-)

Hi Lydia,

the 41 would= a decrease, especially as it was before nadir.(Also if you hadn't fed he would have dropped lower)
I am surprised he didn't drop.You have to be careful feeding LC at an early stage when still severalhours from nadir in case kitty fills up.

Depends on your availability to monitor and BOS as to whether you want to only shave dose and see.
Apart from your 1.0u dose it looks as if it take s few days to really see what a dose can do.

Definitely heading in the right direction.Doesn't look as if Basil bounces.

Just bumping because I am looking for a definitive word on the dosecrease. I am inclined to say it is time. We shoot in just under 2 hours here.

yep, a 41 at +2 definitely gets a dosecrease. :mrgreen: 0.25 units is all yours!

So. Basil's unusually low AMPS was followed by an unusually high PMPS!

We decreased to 0.25. Is there any reason to test earlier than his usual +3 (hope to go to) bed check? :lol:

In general, his evening action is more in the +5 range.
 
Very nice! Another kitty gets a decrease, love it! And with the nice PM cycle numbers, you get to go to sleep tonight. :-D
 
Thank you for blessing my sleep! I was waiting just in case someone said, "Wait a minute! You can't go to sleep on a +3 of 102! That's the Dibnibyi effect! You HAVE TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT AND TEST HIM EVERY 30 SECONDS!! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Ok, exaggerating, but I do have this guilty feeling when I go to bed now. AS if my job has become to stay up and watch him all night. Like an owl.
