Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty is still settling down after his trip, so we'll see where his numbers go today.

Another cold day in the North Country. Rusty snuggled with his beans, ate most of his nighttime food, took a bite of his breakfast (he waits 'till later to eat it), and is asleep in his little bed by the radiator. I'm about to go down and wake him up.

I never got to Plattsburgh yesterday, so will go today. We are totally out of f/d treats (the best ones--Whole Life--are carried by the Agway in Potsdam, but that's a long trip in the other direction, so I'll have to settle for what the PetSmart has; Plattsburgh is closer than Potsdam).

Hi again,
The LagoonMeister caught a fleeting green wave today. :D He's back on shore this evening, however. I had a good trip to Plattsburgh and was able to get 12 cans of Dave's 95% turkey and turkey liver as well as 2 cans of EVO 95% turkey and chicken at Tails of the Adirondacks. At PetSmart I got a few bags of cat-size Pure Bites (they don't carry the larger bags of dog-size) and several cans of Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken, Turkey, Rabbit, and Lamb. And, of course, a case of FF T&G (the cans dated Dec. 2016 seem to be particularly tasty).
So we'll gradually try out these foods and see if Rusty will eat them. He tried the EVO years ago and didn't like it, but his tastes might have changed.
This morning I ordered 2 samples of Honest Kitchen freeze-dried cat food (2 different recipes) from their website: $2. for the samples. I think the food may be too high in carbs, but it sounds like it is well sourced and it uses human-grade ingredients. It is also expensive, but you reconstitute it. It sounds calorie-rich. I thought that for $2. we might give it a try.

Rusty is meowing for me to come downstairs and serve his dinner on the couch, so I'll continue my FDMB visit this evening on the iPad.

Rusty, all dat stuff you tell me about da lagoon bein' so fun, dat all true! I had a blast der yesterday. I come again soon, and next time I bring the chicken wings.
 
Yummy sounding foods for Rusty tonight- glad you were able to get out and go shopping Ella! It will be interesting to see if Rusty likes the EVO after rejecting it the first time, Tiger didn't go for it either. Thanks for publishing your food results though, it's always good to learn what works for others.
 
A lagoon visit and a fuds restocking, sounds like a successful day. :D

The Honest Kitchen Prowl is 20% carbs and Grace is %10 carbs. Marje tried them with Gracie. I was thinking of them as possible HC solutions. The nice thing is that you only need to rehydrate what you need and you don't waste a can. Ages ago (back before there was FD :rolleyes:) I tried one of them with Neko and she liked it. But that's not much of a test. :p:p I wonder if they would ship a sample to Canada. I have seen it for sale here, just not the samples.

ETA: Just checked, no dice on the samples.

Gosh, you got me thinking about a certain Masterpiece Theatre series. Do you get to stay downstairs after you serve?

Great shopping trip. Hope you have better luck with the Instinct than I did. No one here was interested in any of the flavors. Neighbor cat, however, thought it was delicious.

Looking good, Rusty. Keep it up, or down. You know.

Yep, I just stay there and veg out with the TV. It takes Rusty about 2 hours to finish grazing on his food!

Hi Ella and Rusty! I hope you are enjoying the snow and staying warm. It sounds like you had quite the food haul today! Sounds like fun...my boyfriend thinks I'm nuts but I have fun shopping for cat food. Billie has been eating Instinct rabbit and pork for the past few months and she and Brooklyn both like it a lot. We sort of got cornered into it by process of elimination with her food allergies, but she is doing well on it. I hope Rusty enjoys the buffet!

sorry to miss you yesterday.... looks like Rusty had a good one, some green, and a nice rest on the blue shore. Hooray for a successful shopping venture!
