On his third cycle at .5 u, Jackson has earned another reduction! Wish I would have tested him sooner in the evening, but he was in safe green mode during the day and his PMPS was high enough that I didn't. Glad I tested before bed!

Today:
AMPS 124
+6 75
PMPS 114
+4 40

I gave him 2 tsp of HC FF (and a little LC, as he's hungry!) and will retest in 10 or so minutes.

Tomorrow, we'll start .25 and I'm going to read up on fine dosing!

I think Jackson is thinking about being done with all this! You ok or need company?

Congrats on the reduction!

Nice thing about LantusLand...
There's never a dull moment!

Lots of eyes around if you need them

Thanks, everybody! I think I'm doing OK over here but will give a shout out if I have questions (how quickly we get comfortable with low numbers!). Going to test him in a minute and will let you know what we see.

Brother Ollie is grouchy now -- he knows Jack got some of the HC candy and I won't let him have any -- I learned the hard way that he won't go back to the low carb stuff after getting a taste of the carby stuff! Will find him another treat to make up for it.

Back in a few!

Re: 1/28 Jackson PMPS 114 +4 40 Here we go again

The boy does respond nicely to high carbs -- he's at 61. I gave him a little more LC because he's hungry.

My game plan is to test him in another 30 mins (at +5) and if he's still decent, then at +6. By then, he will have had all of his 1/2 can FF bedtime snack, and my guess is that he'll surf on, but we'll see.

I was just remembering that I had a friend over earlier tonight (from about +1 to +3) who was playing with the cats. Jack got a burst of energy and was tearing around the house -- I'm wondering if that influenced his number. Thoughts? I guess it's safer to do the decrease and see how he does?

I read lots of times where people have noticed "exercise means drop in BG" here. It would seem logical, if glucose is what the body uses to make "energy", that burning off some energy should lower numbers?

With a 40? Definitely. Low is low, no matter what caused it.

Yes, I think I've read somewhere to be careful with exercise with animals who are on insulin, and I suppose that onset isn't a great time for it. I know my diabetic step-father sees lower numbers after he exercises...

He's holding at 62 at +5 -- thoughts? He's eaten some LC in the meantime. One more tsp. of HC for good measure, or just leave him as-is and check again in 30 mins?

Re: 1/28 Jackson PMPS 114 +4 40 +4.5 61 +5 62

Depends on how soon you want to get to bed. If you want him up so you can rest, give him higher crb. If you want him to surf, give him a little LC OR leave him and recheck in 30.

Re: 1/28 Jackson PMPS 114 +4 40 +4.5 61 +5 62

I gave him the remainder of his bedtime snack (about a 1/10 of a can) and will test again at +5.5. Thanks!

And good luck with Ruben -- it's like a high-suspense soap opera over there! nailbite_smile Cheering y'all on!

...and that was that! At +5.75, he's up to 81, so I think we're good to go. Taking my kitties and going to bed!

Thanks for all the support -- see you in the morning!
