Last time Chip had sustained numbers this high he was 0.5U below a better dose.

I mean besides the last bounce. The decay on these bounces seems to say "under dose" from Chip's past patterns.

But not sure we've really seen something quite like this before.

Do I need to be doing something besides the usual increases? nailbite_smile

This is definitely not contraband. He's acting "under the weather" but hard to tell the chicken from the egg.

Chip's 1/19

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446

It could be a high before a break. I'd consider raising the dose at PMPS if there's no improvement this cycle. I'd also try to get a ketone test just so that source of aggravation is ruled out and if Chip's still not feeling better, plan a vet visit. The only good thing about high numbers in a cat that usually isn't in that range is that it can be an early warning system for an infection.

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446

I agree with Sienne. If you look back at 1/6, he did the same thing although not quite as high. He had 2.5 cycles of high, flat and then broke. He's been pretty flat since yesterday morning; I hope he breaks today.

I've never been able to figure out how a specific dose that they looked great on a month ago all of a sudden has them bouncing. To my best speculation, I'd say that as they are reduced and start bouncing, they just start to lose a little momentum. I've had to do the same thing with Gracie....up/down around a specific dose and it often seems after a bit, she will finally like the dose she liked before.

I hope he's ok. I know they can't feel well at high numbers.

Yep I knew he would be yellow or even blue by PMPS, so the high before the break.

Or his 30 hour bounce, which for Chip is an indication the dose still needs to go up.

He's feeling ok, at least he's very easy to comfort and calm. Purring and happy.

Come on down Chip... I always wonder if something interesting/good will happen when you see odd numbers. I try and stay optimistic!

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

No such luck.

He's not feeling good.

Got his increase. Going to get some clavamox.

He is eating normally and is not dehydrated.

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

He is clearly sick and that is likely causing the numbers.

Could be infection, could be pancreatitis.

I'll have to do my best to treat both, but bupe is not in the budget, nor is a bunch of vetting.

He's not bad, just under the weather. But obviously more than just high numbers.

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

Have you seen my post on Pancreatitis?

Have you ever headed of Care Credit? You can google it. If he has pancreatitis, the bupe will make a huge difference for him in terms of how he feels.

I'm so sorry and I hope he feels much better soon and tht you figure out what it is.

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

I have seen that. Maybe it isn't Pancreatitis?

No vomiting, lethargy, meatloafing or nausea.

He's eating just fine, perhaps minor pain but he can be distracted to play.

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

All his life he has covered his food. He was born outside.

I always thought he was just a pig hiding his food so no one else gets it.

But his previous vet said that was nausea, he doesn't want to smell food.

And she said he had p'titis, but we never tested for it.

About half the time he buries his food when done eating, even when he is feeling perfect.

He is not even doing that today. :?

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

Hmmmmm....Gracie has always buried her food ever since she was a tiny baby. I think your first vet didn't know what he/she was talking about. It's left over from when they were wilder..they would bury their food to keep other ..bigger..predators from finding it. Many large, wild cats still do it.

But if he's not doing it...

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

Well actually there may be different forms. He will bury something he likes clearly to hide it.

But I've also watched him walk by and smell food and frantically try to cover it up. Grabs clothing, bags, whatever to cover up the food.

And at times it will do the same thing with the litter box. He will carry a towel 5 feet and put it over the litterbox.

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

And socks.

He is constantly hauling around socks and putting them in the litterbox. :o

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

Oh my! Hope Chips get better soon! Without a bw, you can never be sure if it's p"titis but the clavamox canbe a good idea for a simple infection.
Rosy's also giving me wonky numbers all of a sudden but since she's eating I am not too worried. Argh, kitties!

Re: 1/28 Chip AMPS 446 +6 243 PMPS 346

He sounds like he has a great personality. Tobey puts everything in his water dish. We have water dishes everywhere but Tobey always wants to put it in Gus's favorite bowl. So Gussie goes to drink and there is some fuzzy thing floating around
