Good morning, Sugar Kitties and Jelly Beans,

We start the day with 101. Hmm. Basil must be into numerology: three out of his last four tests were 101.

He seems good today. Still very slightly favoring the leg, but it seems like less than yesterday. He ate all his breakfast and proceeded to jump on his sister as a little postprandial surprise.

I am readjusting his food. I do think with all the night feeding, he is getting even more food than he used to and I do know weight control is good for diabetes.

Funny development: Yesterday, twice, Basil's littermate sister Rosie came into the room while Basil was being tested and watched, but not the way she typically watches. She looked like she believed she was missing out on something really good. So she got some extra petting and some fussing with her ears. Silly kitty!

Have you ever tested Rosie? Just wondering...might be ice to know what she is...

Hi Pat,
Rosie is quite--erm--round (actually, one of her nicknames is Rotunda) and we have been trying with mixed success for years to get her to lose weight. I asked the vet to do a panel on her a couple of years ago figuring she must be diabetic, but she was fine. AND I tested her myself a few weeks ago and got 67 if I recall correctly. In any event, it was solidly in the normal range.

Maybe it was the dried chicken treats she got for the test that she is remembering. She is very food motivated. I think we could train her to fetch the newspaper with the right treats, if she would stop laughing at us long enough to entertain the notion.

Incidentally, the all canned diet seems to agree with her very well and she is dropping weight slowly and regaining energy too.

It's always good to switch around testing even though I don't that much.
 
Well this was a beeeeuuuteeeful day for Basil. And your post about Rosie just cracked me up! Retrieving the newspaper... good luck with that! LOL.
