WCR: Most Ps in place. Got some good snuggles last night while I laid in bed not able to sleep. :arghh: When I got up this morning, she had a little fur left in her overnight bowl, but I found her in the other room...eating the stray sprigs of rope from her scratching post. Then she came out into the tv room and started eating her other scratcher (cardboard) and then whatever she could find on the floor.

Anyways, appy is ok this morning (once I gave her real fuds!)

Now she is laying in my lap for a few minutes before I rush off to work. Hoping that all is well in my classroom and I can put my books and stuff back on my built-in book shelves. A county guy was supposed to go in this weekend and bomb the built in for termites. o_O:eek: Yep, you heard me right! Termites. This is the second time I've had to deal with termites in my classroom. The first time, they were gnawing on one of the legs of my grand piano.

They ended up taking both of my grand pianos, both sets of outside doors & 3 doors to my practice rooms to a Uhaul trailer and bombed it. It was kind of funny. A Uhaul, sitting next to the building, locked up with big signs saying "DANGER!" "PELIGROSO!" Oh, they originally called Truly Nolan (exterminators), but they wanted $50,000 to tent the entire building. Yeah, that wasn't going to happen.

Why do things right the first time?! Right?!

Tonight is a toe soaking night. Oh yippee. And I will call my vet to get a new bag of ringer solution. Sending warm thoughts and stay-safe vines for all of those dealing with that icky blizzard. Stay safe!!

Since you're in an apartment building, or something, calling Terminix wouldn't be feasible for the management to do, would it? We have termites in North Texas, as well, and so far, we've only seen 1 swarm from 2 locations, and another location that was about to swarm. We've set up a contract with Terminix a couple of years ago, and have had no issues, thankfully. (knocking on wood). We'll keep renewing the contract as we can't afford to keep changing homes naturally. LOL

I hope Shasta's appy gets better and she decides to eat fuds instead of everything else. Yuck on the termites. I hope the bombing worked.
 
@pollydoodle - yeah, termites. For several years, the "Good ole boys" at the county level kept trying to tell me that the termite damage I was seeing wasn't really termites...but carpenter ants, instead. I fought and fought...took pictures...saved samples of the termite "poop". I hate being dismissed. :mad: While those jerks were standing around my room one day, I picked up a chorus dress and lo and behold...what was crawling across it? A termite! I walked over to them and said..."Excuse me...what is this?" One of the men said, "Yep, that's a termite." I wanted to explode.

@Angela & Blackie & 3 Others - I work at a public high school and let me tell you, if something costs more than $15...the school board will NOT approve it.

They used to have a contract with Truly Nolan (exterminator), but decided to cancel the contract because they needed to cut costs somewhere. :arghh:

@carfurby - Thank you. She's doing ok-ish tonight. I'm supposed to be soaking Shasta's toe right now and yet, we're both snuggled on the couch and I'm stuck watching "Blue Bloods"...episode bing watching. :woot:
 
In the grand scheme...what's the difference between termites and carpenter ants? As much as I hate killing anything, they both cause equal amounts of destruction to buildings - it's just that their end-goal is different. I'm sorry you have such a hard time getting the situation addressed.

I hope all goes well with the toe-soaking and you get lots of snuggles tonight!
 
@Amy&TrixieCat - Yeah, they didn't see it that way. Carpenter ants were no big deal....termites, well, that's way too much $$$$. UGH! Thanks for the well wishes on the toe soaking. Hope you guys are staying warm & safe!!
