Another bad day. Started off with him trying to walk more, eating a can. Then more resting head on water bowl, not wanting to eat anything but some tuna juice with his shot. Constipated, spent all day pacing to and from the box and not able to push it out, despite 2mL of vegetable oil (it was all I had and vet hadn't answered yet.) I eventually had to help him pass it while it was stuck halfway out.
Gave him his Cerenia and he must've tasted it. He foamed, then aspirated some foam because he was swallowing it too fast.
Numbers stated in the 200s every time I checked while he was off insulin.
Now, unable to go more than a couple steps again. One back leg seems more useless than the other, but all 4 are weak.
Going in for a recheck exam and a more detailed blood test tomorrow morning.

I feel like he's just getting worse, no matter what I do. Just worse and worse the more I give him. Like today, without insulin, he had stable 200s but declined in mobility and appetite. The unicorn day, he also declined. To see him hobbling 2 or 3 steps at a time, even when food, water, and a box are within a couple feet of his couch spot, and seeing how frustrated he is, I am heart broken.

Resp and HR fine, temp gets low when he lays on the floor (his preference) because he's skinny and the floor is cold.

Good luck at the vet tomorrow. I hope they have answers for you. :bighug:

Being off of insulin, he might have been peeing more, so a bit more dehydrated. So more constipated. Good info here: https://felineconstipation.org/ A little unsalted butter worked for Neko, and she loved it. Have you tried Miralax?

My go to for nausea is ondansetron.

I have not tried either of those. He may very well be dehydrated from simply not being able to get to the water bowl as often as he would if his feet worked.

Vet tech says his temp was normal and he has lost a couple oz in weight. He's now 6lb down from 7 a few days ago. Constipation is not as bad as she thought on palpation, so will do blood panel to see what else is going on and make sure the bump on his throat is not thyroid. Will have results in about 20 minutes.

So the doctor believes we are probably doing end of life care.

Between Tuesday and today, his phosphorus has gone out of control.
Potassium is low again. From 3.5 Tuesday to 2.8 today.

She would be okay pulling insulin again since he was stable off it in the 200s, so that we can maybe focus on everything else. She and I are both at a loss. I cannot afford hospitalization and even then, would it even help?

Plan is let him eat whatever he wants, add phos bind, continue k+ and cardiac supplement powder, up the fluids with 1 vial of potassium to 100ml instead of 50

I'll cross post to the CKD Tanya forums later. I'm just so tired

Low potassium explains his feet not working. Poor guy. I hope he can find some good quality of life with the new plan.

He has chronically had issues with potassium, but his feet began getting worse with potassium labs showing normal. This is why she attributes this current severity as diabetic neuropathy, as the leg weakness did not correspond with potassium values
