Good Morning, LL! We’re off with a flat yellow cat last night and today, after a beautiful blue run :-D . I thought we'd see something from the dosecrease by now but who knows what will happen ohmygod_smile . Previous Condo: Chyna 1/25

I leaned over to get to Chyna this morning and glanced at the wall behind the testing spot, and it looks like a crime scene...little bitty blood spots from ear shaking all over :? Guess I have a wall to wash today :o

I finally got some sleep so am feeling so much clearer today! BTB was awesome. Chyna only ate half her breffis today and would not touch the rest. I think she needs to poop, we didn’t have any the night before or day yesterday so she got some canola oil. Her +2 meal was still waiting in the autofeeder when I got up at +2.5…so I mixed the leftover breffis with it and brought it to where she was sitting...and she ate it all up. I guess they tasted better mixed together  . Then she got up in her cat tree again ( !!!) and had a nap in the sun. She seems ok today, but a little irritated. She isn't interested in her +4 fuds yet, either.

Her left eye waters sometimes, and when I asked the vet they said it was probably her allergies. It's just water, no pus or anything but I was wondering what to use to clean it since today it looked like a little crust? Just warm water on a cotton ball? I know you sweep away from the eye...

Happy Sunday to all of you, and thanks for visiting us!

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270 Clean Eye?

Good morning, Rachel.

Glad to hear Chyna is still going up the tree. Every time she does that is like a little victory, isn't it? It's so nice when you see the positive results of something you are doing to help them. :-D So many times it's hard to know if it's working or not.

I know what you mean about the wall near the testing spot. I glanced at the mirror in our downstairs bathroom last night and saw a bunch of blood spatter I'd missed. Note to self: clean entire mirror thoroughly (not just immediate area around testing spot) before receiving visitors or CSI may be called!

Yay for getting sleep. It's amazing how refreshed you feel after just one good night, even if you've been sleep-deprived for several days. I know they say you can't make up for lost sleep, but it still feels awesome.

Sasha's eye waters, too. That's always a give-away that her allergies are bothering her (that and her snoring gets louder  ). I've taken a warm, damp washrag and wiped it, which she's not crazy about but puts up with.

Hope Chyna decides to slide down to the blues for you soon. Have a great day.

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270 Clean Eye?

I have some baby wash clothes and I just soak one in really warm water and do a warm compress on Gracie's eyes and it really helps.

Come on down, Chyna!!!!

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270 Clean Eye?

Come on down Chyna - flat yellow is boring. But up on the sun on the cat tree is great. That also means it's not snowing there. :-D

Neko's eye waters a bit too. I asked vetty about it last time I was there and she wasn't worried. Her take on it was as kitty gets older, sometimes they wait for the staff (which would be us  ) to clean it up.

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270

Good for you on the BTB! Sunday mornings seem to be a great time for some extra
sleeping.gif
..WHEN our kitties let us that is!!

All in all, Chyna's looking much better than she was just a few weeks ago with a lot of pinks, reds and only occasionally yellows, so take a victory lap for flat yellow! It's great that she's feeling better, jumping on her tree, enjoying her naps in the sunshine and leaving trails of blood drops all over the walls..What more do you want?

Oh...I know...flat blues and greens! Well she'll get there! :-D

Sometimes you have to look at the big picture...and that's saying she's doing great! Especially since she's been OTJ before. You know they're tougher the 2nd time around!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Rachel! Give Chyna a scritch from us!..and maybe even a belly rub!

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270

Hi Tricia, it is nice to see some things positive! I hope CSI doesn't show up at either of our houses  I'm still a bit sleepy but nothing compared to yesterday! Thanks for the advice on the cloth. Chynas snoring is louder sometimes too...it's cute, and worrying at the same time! Us beans can't seem to just relax ;-)

Hi Marje, that's perfect (and so cute you have baby wash cloths :-D ). I will try that later today but I will have to find some sort of nice soft cloth.

Hi Wendy, up on the cat tree IS great, so is the sunshine with no snow (but we're done with our above zero snap, back to the freezer :? ). The side roads are still glare ice though. I guess this staff member will be doing some eye cleaning later today

Thanks Chris, BTB was great. I know, you are correct, I shouldn't be looking for negatives, just positives and big picture :-D ! I see some with the Cartophen and the juice working. I just worry that it's just the new meter and when I switch back to Accu-Chek it will look worse again  I'm hoping the ReliOn I have being shipped will show soon...but shipping to Canada is always slow unless you pay mucho $$$. I'll give her scritches, but belly rubs depends on if she is sleepy enough to tolerate it  . Funny that I can kiss the belly and she will never attack my face, but touch it and  Chyna comes out.

I hope you all are having a good Sunday!

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270

It's nice to hear Chyna climbed her cat tree again. I hope the flat yellows today mean blues later on. If I really looked closely at my kitchen cabinets, I'm sure I'd find little blood drops all over them. I test Furball on the kitchen floor. I'm glad you got some sleep.

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270

Hi Rachel!
I'm glad you are feeling better today!
I have spent most of this weekend horizontally too.
Yay about Chyna climbing on the cat tree!!!

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270

The watering eyes could be the herpes virus which is dormant in many cats. A little pure l-lysine can stop that if that is the cause. It's a powder that is tasteless and can be added to food without being detected by most cats. It can be purchased at health or vitamin stores. It worked for my Tiffany within 5 days.

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270

Hi guys,
L lysine is good for sneezing/allergies. So is Standard Process Allerplex. This is what Rusty gets in his "lung treat" (Marje told me about it).
https://www.standardprocess.com/Sta...brary/Product-Detail-Sheets/allerplex0975.pdf
It has helped his breathing (chronic congestion) a lot.
You can buy it from Amazon and from health professionals who emphasize holistic approaches to wellness. Allerplex has been in production since 1959.

Have a good evening, Rachel

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270

NIce flatness for Chyna today...hopefully she'll start inching that down! I hope her appy picked up and she gave you some LB prezzies, too. Woohoo on her climbing the tree again... you go, girl! I'm glad you got some sleep and are feeling better, too!!

Have a great evening, Rachel!!

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270 PMPS 330 (!)

Well, I wasn't expecting THAT PMPS! Ugh. Fortunately, I had just set a pee trap after shot time as Chyna ate, and not 2 minutes before Chyna decided to go! Negative Ketones. I usually have to wait 3 hours

Thanks Carla, I was hoping they meant blues later too...maybe tonight. I'm glad I'm not the only one with blood spatter (ick) ;-)

Hi Mariko, thanks, it's amazing what sleep will do! I'm happy to see Chyna on the tree or the bed...anywhere but the floor to show she feels good enough to climb

Hi Elise, I will have to look into that, I think someone told me about it a bit ago...I do know Chyna has allergies to scents, seems like also dust, and certain fuds, it's so hard to know. I wonder if it's ok for kidney cats...

Hi Ella, thanks, I'll look that up too. Do you ask your vet about it for dosing and such? Chyna does snore and snuff a bit sometimes, but I assumed it was allergies...

Hi Amy! I'll tell her to listen to her aunties and go the other way ;-) I'm feeling better other than the dread of tbp tomorrow :o We did have prezzies this afternoon, and she has eaten all her fuds...just in her own time instead of when I wanted her to

Thanks for the visits, everyone:) I'm going to try hit some more condos now!

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270 PMPS 330 (!)

Ok, Miss Chyna - Stinky pinky is not your color! Let's slide down to a prettier color~

Isn't it amazing what some extra sleep can do?? Glad you are feeling better, Rachel. Looks like we didn't hit any big money on the lottery - back to tbp tomorrow

Very nice to read how much better Chyna is feeling/acting - she doesn't look at her numbers :-D

Have a great night~

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270 PMPS 330 (!)

Come down from there, Chyna! Your Canadian credentials are secure, Rachel.  You didn't mention beaver tails though. We had those and poutine in Whistler at the Paralympics. :-D

Re: 1/26 Chyna AMPS 269 +4 270 PMPS 330 (!)

Hi again, Rachel,

My vet suggested that I give Rusty 1 capsule of Allerplex a day for the first bottle (of 150 capsules) and then to go up to 2 capsules. I held the 1 a day dose for much longer, but this winter's very cold and dry weather has been tough on Rusty and Marje and I both thought he would benefit from bid dosing (Rusty is a big cat--16 lbs). I only just began bid dosing. I open the capsule and empty the powder into a teaspoon of turkey/turkey broth baby food, add a little water to make a "soup" and finger-feed it as a treat. Rusty loves it. It smells like beef bouillon cubes.

It's definitely something worth trying.

Ella

Soooo close to yellow...but still stinky pinky. At least all fuds are being consumed tonight  And I can just go to bed...

Thanks Jane, I guess she thinks "pink" is pretty :YMSIGH: She isn't feeling as good, but still eating and such is good, you're right she doesn't care what BG actually reads! You're right no lottery win...that I know of. I do have a scratch and win sitting here that I didn't get around to...

Liz, it's good to know I'm ok'd to be Canadian  Um, ew, I don't think I've ever been anywhere that serves beaver tails...they used to swim in our pond growing up, I don't think I can do that one :? Poutine, yes, anytime! Yum.

Ella, thanks again. I'll check out the local health food stores to see if they have either Allerplex or L-Lysine, it's worth a try. If it helps her allergies it's worth it :-D

Ni ni LL. Sweet dreams of blues and greens!

The health food stores probably won't have Allerplex unless they are certified health practitioners (Standard Process keeps a tight reign on their products). You can find it on Amazon, however.
L lysine comes in various strengths. I get the 500 mg in capsules, open the capsule, and give about 1/16th of a measuring teaspoon twice a day sprinkled on Rusty's food. Jill has a link to meds on Alex's SS and gives info. on where she gets a good brand of L lysine.

Ella

Beaver tails are huge flat, fried pastries (not the tail from the animal), usually with some additional high fat, high sugar topping. One just about killed me, especially the same day as poutine. But we had to take advantage.
