? 1.25u too much 1u not enough?

Hoping to get some advice. We are following the start low go slow method. Unfortunately I have not been able to test the last few weeks as much as I would like with holiday craziness.
His numbers are a rainbow. 1.5u put him hypo, then a fat 1.25u dose put him hypo and now are down to 1u that seems to not be enough. Could this possibly be the pancreatitis that the vet thought was a possibility that are causing these crazy numbers or is it just because he is not regulated? I know ecid and the second time around is more challenging but I am feeling so discouraged that I can’t help stabilize him. Should we continue with 1u? Try another insulin? Just looking for some advice, suggestions or opinions please :( thank you in advance! I truly don’t know what I would do without this forum.

It’s not uncommon for kitties to be bouncier the second time in the juice. Frustrating for caregivers though. :bighug:

I am glad you caught those lows on 1.25 units. As per SLGS, that means his new dose should be 1.0 units. Our dosing methods work best with consistent dosing, so try not to respond by fattening the dose if you higher preshots. Also, I can’t stress strongly enough the value of getting a test in the night cycle, each and every night, if you are home. A before bed test is a good one. Many cats go lower at night. He could be going low at night and bouncing during the day.

So for now, hopefully with the holidays winding down, you can get a curve in and some more spot checks. I would go to 1.0 units, and hold that dose for a week, unless he goes below 90.

Thank you for your reply! Sometimes it’s just nice to have some reassurance that this isn’t as bad as it could be.
I will definitely hold 1u and get some more testing in this week to get some more data to see what’s going on with Pudge
