Yesterday

Well today is the first time Scooters reading has started in the pink since the 2nd day of the Levemir. So I am happy to see that.

As pointed out yesterday it has been 6 days now out of the black. I am happy about that as well.

Scooter is not eating as well this morning. I think his teeth may be the issue. May be time for a dental at the vet. He had his last one 7 yrs ago.

Anyway another very cold weekend in MN so he is under a blanket in the sun. :smile:

Sounds like Scooter is a VERY smart kitty!!!

If you think he needs a dental, he probably does. From what I understand, the extra sugar in our cats saliva makes them more prone to problems with their toofies, so would definitely be worth checking into. A bad mouth full of teeth can cause those numbers to be higher too and many times, after a good dental, they'll make good progress down the dose ladder

I echo what Chris said about a dental. Poor Cinco lost most of his teeth because before he came to us he never had dental treatment. Even with our loving care, he lost some more last year, and the vet said it was very common in diabetic cats to have dental issues. I'd encourage you to get Scooter in there as soon as you can, so he can keep his teeth.

Yay for all those days out of the black. Pink is definitely better. Maybe, once his teeth are cleaned, Scooter will show you how pretty yellow can be.

I'm happy to hear that you are seeing Scooter gradually come down for you, it's always so encouraging to see! I hope you can get in to check for the dental. Chyna ran down the ladder after hers last February, she'd had an absessed tooth and they took 5 in total out. It sounds like under a blanket in the sun is the place to be . So I learned my lesson about spouting I am happy with numbers and being out of the black. :YMSIGH:

waiting another 3 hrs is going to be tough since I know he is high.

Since you're using Levemir and I know it usually has a later nadir than Lantus, I'm really not sure, but I know I've seen a lot of discussion lately about the need to wait the full 12 hours if you know they're going to be higher by then anyway...IF your shot schedule can be moved that much since you would then have to shoot 12 hours later...so if you gave a shot at +10, you'd still want to give the next one 12 hours later, not 14 hours

Marje might be able to advise you on it. I think she's one who was talking about it, and I know she has more experience with Levemir...and I wouldn't even try it without more experienced guidance!

I am going to set up his dental on Monday and a vet check to.

I decided not to shoot him till +12 and just keep him on the schedule he is on.

I am just sad because I thought the 3U was going to be his magic number. grumpy_cat

Well he has come back down to red.

I think he may need a different brand of food. He isn't eating much and tonight he sniffed and walked away. I gave him a bit of 9lives super supper and he ate a lot! Ugh. Wonder what super supper is? :lol:

hey, we're seeing action! movement is good!

people reminded me to keep my eyes on punkin - if he felt good, that was the important thing. he didn't know what his blood sugar was or what the size of his dose was.

you control what you can and let go of the rest. :YMHUG:

I agree....just stick with it. You're doing a good job on the patience. I'm glad Scooter liked his Super Supper

Thanks for visiting us today. Gracie isn't blind ;-) she has meibomanitis which is just a little inflammation of the glands in her upper eyelid. You can't see it...she just squints a bit and her eyes water. If I put warm compresses on it, it really helps.
