Good Morning LL!! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) (yum!, elixir!), and Happy Tuesday!

1/24 Condo

1/24 RECAP:
fed mini meals @ ps, +1, +2, +3: AM CYCLE: Merrick Surf and Turf 3%, PM CYCLE: Merrick Surf and Turf 3%, Pro Plan Adult Chicken and Liver 2%
amps 549: 2.50Fu: 1st cycle on this dose: NEW DOSE
+2 419
+4 344
+10 346
pmps 282: 2.50Fu: 2nd cycle on this dose
+2 296
+4 302
amps 378: 2.50Fu: 3rd cycle on this dose

What to say about yesterday.... not one of Mannie's better days. I fattened his dose with the AM cycle: that 549 was a bit much to deal with. So now we wait for the new dose to settle, and see if we have better numbers. Paws crossed! :-D

One would never know that Mannie's numbers were high yesterday - he is the same when they are blue, or when they are red and black. Feisty thing yesterday: the civvies were the recipients of head whacks, gentle ones, but whacks nonetheless. Seems that they were in his path, more than once. shesshhhh Mannie! The nanners were top priority yesterday. He spent so much time arranging them, sleeping on them, securing the perimeter. Poor civvies - they remain nanner-less. This morning he had his face planted against the glass on the slider door, meowing to go out. too dark big guy, sun isn't up yet, and just what did you see out there anyways... hmmmmmm.... must have been the lure of damp grass. Normalcy in MannieLand.

Kitties!!: The KTSS is needed today. We have several kitties who are to their vetty bean: Do Lou, and Whiskers, and Tray... and Sooty too, I think, is still there. Spa treatments are needed. You guys ready? See you soon! ~~~ Mannie

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378

Goodness gracious, Mannie! I hope the new dose helps your boy get those better numbers, Michelle. Maybe he was wacking the civvies because he needed his exercise to get the numbers down??? Funny that he has his quircks with those nanners. You know, they make little fish, lemons, and cigars with the nip in them. I wonder if you changed the "shape" of the nanner if he would be as protective of them and let the civvies play.

Hi Mannie! I'm ready to go wit da KTSS crew today. I'm a liddle bored here at home...the wedder is nasty and cold and mums won't let me outside in da snow...of course, I don't tink I weally wunt out der annyway. And, if we could, affer taking care of our sick kitties, do you tink we can sneak inna hospital and say a prayer for me mum's frienz liddle girl? She's 6 weeks old n had to be rushed to da hospital. Dey thought dat she was gonna cross da bridge, but da good Lord said it wasn't her time. She's got all de tubes in her and she is reawwly reawwly sick and ebey one is so sad. Pleaze pick me up today...I'll be waiting............lubs Spot

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417

Hi Deb, and thanks! Me too, on the dose and the better numebrs. It's all so disheartening and frustrating - so we up the dose, run the cycles, see what goes down (or not!), up the dose again - waiting to get back the kitty I had a month ago. aiyee!!! well..... we will get there! sooner than later I hope. :-D .

Spot! affirmative on your mum's friend little girl. WE WILL BE THERE! i will say some prayers for him. My mum has a new DGS, and I know how sad she would be if he was sick.... I am on my way my friend! Us kitties are powerful, and we will help her. See you soon! ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417

Ohhhhh Mannie, lets get going with that new dose. These are not you colors. Chin up Michelle, he will soon be back on track.

Mannie, I'm more than ready to go w/ KTSS! Enough of these all day pokies! I'm tired of sleeping all day too, it will be good go and visit all the other kitties. Spot, of course we will visit the human kitten. They say just our purrs help beans feel better and we can sit all around and purr our loudest! -- Tess

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417

Mannie, we don't like to see you in these colours, I sure hope the new dose kicks in. Still, good to hear you're fiesty and guarding those nanners!

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417

Hey Mannie, whatcha doin' up there? Got another pile of 'nanners stashed away, that no one knows about?

"Morning Michelle. So I always wonder, what would Mannie do, if he had another few 'nanners. Would he just hoard and sleep on a bigger pile?

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

oh boy...

476 @ +4
vet trip
572 @ +5, post vet

well......... the 476 was a downer, and here we go again. after doing his test I discovered that he had vomited everywhere in the living room, more down the stairs, etc.... I decided at this point, with the vomit, with the 476, with knowing that i really needed to redo a borderline urinalysis done 2 weeks ago, that a vet trip was in order. He seems and acts fine, but he's also a very stoic kitty, and I wanted to rule out anything that I could not see. The urinalysis done 2 weeks ago was a contaminated sample, with a few issues: ph value, etc. (long story here) The vet and I decided to get him through his post op dental stuff and then redo the urinalysis. Mannie is very difficult to get a sample from, non-cooperative is a good summation. he pees in his carrier everytime before we can even get close to getting a sample. I took him today, asking for a c&s. they tried, but he is a very big kitty, bladder was very small, not alot of urine in it. I decided to leave him for the day, but as they were getting his cage ready he decided he had to go, so the sample was a clean catch, and for now that will have to do.

so we shall see if the sample shows any infection, whatever with him. I just wanted to rule this out as a possible reason for these constant rising BG numbers. I don't believe it is the pen, as it was new on 1/16. Everything else this morning checked out fine while he was there. Perhaps he just needs more juice - we are still below what was a successful dose before dental.

anyways.... 572 after vet - stress related no doubt.  but look! here is my happy face: -----> :-D

thanks to you all for the visit today. I do appreciate you all

Hi Barb - I will   at your question. I wondered too - so at XMas I bought more thinking there would be some for the civvies. oh sure..... he confiscated them too! Deb was telling me that they also have lemons and cigars and fish, so maybe we can fool him with those, and then the civvies can play too.

Hi Devon - oh please let it be so - these ugly numbers are never fun. so true on these kitties we have - always willing to be there for their friends. It's kinda nice.

Hi Anne -thanks on the pic. One of my favs! I keep telling him that green is good. :-D

Hi Iorwen - the feisty was fun - doesn't happen alot, but worth a good laugh when it does.

Hi Ann - yep, hope so. It's been a fun morning... Mannie: hear that? back on track, OK?

Tess - you is so tight on! I know my bean says that our purrs will cure anything, so we gots to visit spots human kitten. It will help her. See you for KTSS duty - and if there is any treatment stuff left over I could use a little.... it has been a very stressful morning, and I don't smell so good.... ~~ Mannie

Muffin!!! YAY! you can come on the KTSS visits - that is sooooooo cool, and we sure will visit your brother. Is he OK? He had to go there twice! once is bad enough...... we will have to give him double treatment. See you soon - I am on my way. i, uhhhhhh, smell a little funky after this morning and my vetty, so, uhhhhhhh - I may need some freshening up. See you soon - I am on my way! ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

I hate to say it, but I hope they find something causing Mannie's high numbers. Then it can be dealt with. When Tess had the bloody urine before Christmas the ER gave her abs before she got a urine test. I worried about it afterwards, but it turned her around in a day and once she got off the abs she has ben getting steady decreases. i can't remember, did Mannie get abs after the dental?

Mannie! You too? Oh NO!!! We got a looooonnngggg list today. Maybe I should drive the Furrari? We can get around fast in that! and you can rest after seeing "he that must not be named" -- Tess

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

Good idea taking him in - I'm not sure whether to wish for something causing these numbers or not... either way, I hope he gets back to normal soon. I haven't seen Muffin since I got home from the vet, so I'm assuming she's with Mannie and the gang making the rounds

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

Hi Celi - so true on the numbers. one stressed out dude - he was a crazy man when we got home - had to check out everything - room to room to room.  things have now mellowed out some.

Hi Ann - I know what you mean. One of the reasons I hauled him up there this morning. I know his dose is still lower than pre-dental, but... these numbers are just unreal, and I have been wondering when they hit again the other day if we don't have something else going on here. And no on the abs at the time of the dental. From what they told me the cleaning was basic and routine, no issues, no abs as they didn't feel he needed them. so.... the urinalysis today will not be affected by that. I had really hoped for a C&S today, but well, didn't happen. so.... one time I may be hoping that they find something that we can get a handle on, deal with, treat. Other than that - up goes the juice. and    on "he that must not be named" - very funny!

Hi Anne - I know, and so true. well either way we will have a course of action. Last I heard from Mannie was he had picked up Muffin and Spot and Binks and was headed to Tess's so they can grab the furrari. seems they want fast transport today.

Tess - I KNOW - me too! Silly bean! What is up with all these vetty visits today. sheshhhhhh! and I STINK! I know on our list - it just keeps growing.... the furrari sounds like a great idea - faster than fast and we can get more visits in! SWEET! See you soon! ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

Sorry I'm behind on condo's again today. Trying to play catch up.

Wow Mannie, hope they figure out whats causing them high numbers and get you back into tip top shape. You can't speak but your BG is sure saying something ohmygod_smile

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

Aahh Michelle :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: What a morning you and Mannie have had but you are in true, wonderful, positive Michelle form. What would we do without you in LL??

I also hope that they find a little infection because I know how worried you are about these crazy numbers. Hopefully they can figure it out or you can get him back up to the dose he needs to bring the numbers down. I'm glad he feels well, at least, but the vomiting doesn't sound like Mannie...could it have been a hairball??? Please keep us posted on how he does. Maybe he just hasn't filled his shed yet with his new dose and so his BG is still a little high...some NDW?

Mannie....we bring you KTSS!! We have lots of stops to make today...busy day...Tobey help!

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

Hey, Guys! Sorry Mannie had to go to the vet, but hopefully the urine sample you were thankfully able to get will provide some useful answers soon! At least your boy has priorities.... DEFEND THE NANNERS!!!

Hey, Mannie! I'z totally in for de KTSS duty today! We'z will make e'rbudy feelz betterz!!! -- Willie

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, +2 417, +4 476, +5 572, vet

Hi Michelle,
I'm just catching up on condos and when I saw Vet, I got worried. I hope Mannie does okay and the Vet can shed some light on what could be causing his high numbers. I'll be back to check in on him. Just got home. It's still early here. Hang in there Mannie.

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

"HI" @ +11
"HI" @ PMPS

As awful as this all is there is my guy, during testing and shooting and feeding - purrs loud enough to break the sound barrier. Numbers are not pretty - I wonder if I gave a fur shot this morning - I didn't think so - but omg these numbers are just a little unreal. ??? No report from the vet yet, but I expect I won't hear anything from them until tomorrow.

well so it is. It breaks my heart, Mannie though is as happy as he can be. He's hungry, wanted more to eat that I'd serve him. So he took to the civvies bowls... they however had cleaned theirs too. He's completed his face wash, and headed off to the nanners for some nappin' while he waits for the next mini meal. soon Mannie, soon.

Thanks Ann - we are trying. Mannie seems fine - one would not know by looking at him that his numbers are so high.

Hi Christie - so true! nanners were on the top of the list. Too funny!

Hi Marjorie - yeah I'm a little worried. I would really like to know why? and true on the vomit - not his style. found a little fur in it, but not much to warrant the volume of the pukus. Could be the ndw thing too - but i wonder - he's just way too high for just that??

Hi Karrie - so true. Bg is screaming loud and clear. We are only on the 4th cycle of this dose.

Hi Lisa - no I didn't check the meter with the vets. probably should have. I've run comparisons with this meter before. I know it runs a little high.

Do Lou - I KNOW dude - they shaved you too. bummer man, and i am so sorry.... we will bring you extra spa stuff cuz well... you deserve it. I'm glad though that you survived the vetty and their clippers. See you soon! ~~ Mannie

Willie - I am so glad that you want to come and hep with the KTSS - that is sooooo cool! We have funs and make our friends feel better, smell better too. See you soon! ~~ Mannie

Gracie - I am sooooooo glad that Tobey can come and help - we have so much to do! Did you hear??? Do Lou got shaved on THREE spots! See you soon! ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

Oh Michelle, I just got back online after our trip home and saw Mannie's numbers and that you took him to the vet. Do you think he could have an allergy to one of his foods? (that might explain the vomit). (or maybe you got a bad can). It is weird that he is behaving so normally (except for the vomit). Maybe you should try a different cartridge? Maybe the strips are bad? Anyway, Rusty is coming over tonight for KTSS duty for Mannie and all the other kitties who were at their vets today.
Check back with you later.

Ella
Mannie, my pal, what's going on? I'll be over to visit you soon.
Rusty

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

Checking in on Mannie. I'm thinking, too, maybe the juice or strips.

Yes, Maggie is ready to board the ktss today

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

Michelle: I hope you see a turnaround tonight and he comes back down. I know these numbers make us all crazy. Gosh, Mannie is not even my cat and it makes me crazy for YOU! Paws crossed it was a major fur shot and he'll get back to business tonight.

Mannie...KTSS delivered to everyone who needed it!!! No more vetty smell on any of us either! Poor Do Lou!!!

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

Oh Michelle, all I can do is send Hugs for you. I know it sounds awful, but I too, hope some minor infection is found, to account for this, and Mannie will get his meds and be all better soon.

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

Just remember, just because it's a new pen, doesn't mean it's not a bad pen. I hate saying I hope you gave a fur shot but it would help to explain today's numbers.

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

Hi guys - thanks to you all!

Celi - the photos are wonderful. I love the one of the kitty in the tail pipe.  that would have been the ktss today - so many kitties at the vet. And the other - i sure could use one of those. :-D

Hi barb - thanks. It's the not knowing that is the hard part. He feels fine - or so his body language is telling me.

Hi Marjorie - as do I. No clue what caused this - didn't think I gave a fur shot this AM - but who knows the mornings are always such a blur....

Hi Ann - could be. We will begin eliminating the variables one by one.

Hi Ella - I wonder about the food. He didn't want the second installment this AM, I had to feed something else. I did eat all of the first one. Maybe the can was bad? I dunno. It seemed fine to me. I have since ditched the rest of it. Could be any of those things. If he doesn't come down tonight then a new cartridge comes out tomorrow. I can play with a new strip batch for the rest of tonight's tests. It would be nice if it were something so simple.

Rusty - you are such a good buddy - thanks Man - I feel OK, but my bean is so - well, you know.... See you soon - we can play with the nanners. ~~ Mannie

Maggie - you to are such a good friend - thanks for helping with the KTSS. You do real well with the spa stuff - a natural! See you! ~~ Mannie

Hey Gracie! thanks, and tell Tobey too! I hope your vetty thing went OK today. - oh..... come on up if you want - Rusty is coming over. See you! ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

hi Sienne - missed your post. In all honesty today's pattern looks like he went without today, which = fur shot. True on the pen. I will start tonight by trying to eliminate the variables.

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

Geez Mannie... With those high numbers, I'm starting to think you and Willow have been secretly hanging out and he's a bad influence, teaching you how to throw nasty numbers like he does. Hopefully a cause is found for the yucky numbers, but I'm glad he's acting otherwise okay.

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet

480 @ +2. ok, better. i did compare strips - broke out a new batch. second test with a new batch was a 505, and within range. so.... i think the strips are OK, but will repeat this again at next test.

Hi Jordan - thanks so much for the visit. I hope Willow is doing OK - I do follow your condo, just don't always post there, there just isn't enough time in the day. hmmmmmmm: Mannie has been talking about this new kitty he met that he likes to hang out with - could it be? Thanks again for the visit - have a great evening!

MJ: my sentiments exactly! SHESSHHHHHHHH!, and a few other choice words.

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", vet

((((((((((Michelle)))))))))) It is good that Mannie is acting and feeling normal, we know things like that in our heads but we can't help worrying and imagining the worst. We are all holding our breath until you can test again! I hope so much that it was a furshot this morning.

Manie! We will all come and rescue you! We can use the ropes and ll get together to pull you down! We don't want you up there! -- Tess

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet

Total UGGHHH for Mannie today, Michelle...and sorry about the vomit and all. I certainly hope that things look better tomorrow for both you and Mannie.

Tanks, Mannie for getting da word out for my beans frienz. Imma sure dat this will be da best ting for her and her human kitty. You guys are da bomb!!!....Lubs, Spot

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet

Wasn't there a lot of people chucking cartridges early this month Michelle and possible talk of maybe bad insulin? I wonder if there is a way to know if its the same batch?

Re: 1/25 Mannie AMPS 378, PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet

So sorry that you're dealing with high numbers, but it is great that Mannie is in good spirits, and hopefully it was just a fur shot and his numbers start heading in the right direction soon.

Hang in there, get some rest, and have a good night!!

Hey, Mannie! Sorry uz smell likez de vetty! I'z waz thinkin maybe KTSS needz to be a 2 day ting! So many kittehs!!!!! Wat u tink?? -- Willie

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

well the vet just called - sheshhhh - she's burning the midnight oil there, anyways - the prelim results indicate a UTI: bacteria, blood and protein present in the urine - alot of it. She will be sending the sample in for a C&S. In the meantime she wants to start him on clavamox, until they know for sure what bacteria they are dealing with, and if need be ABs will be changed at that time.

so.......... i am relieved. not that he has a UTI, but that I know what I am dealing with. It sure explains the numbers. Odd thing - not once has he made extra trips to the LB, or had any problems. I wonder if I just didn't see it.

On the clavamox - do you guys give that with meals, at shot time, or wait a while? seems I remember something about giving that a couple hours after?

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

Glad you got some answers!!! My dog is dealing with a bladder/uti right now and is on clavamox. Her appetite has completely tanked. So glad you are asking about it first.

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

Obviously, check with your vet about when it's best to give the AB. What I suspect you're remembering is that most of us will add a probiotic like FortiFlora to our kitties' food when they're on an AB. You should separate the probiotic from the AB by 2 hrs.

I agree -- you know what you're dealing with and the high numbers are explained.

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

I agree with what Sienne said I think you are thinking of forti flora cannot be given at the same time as antibiotic but as far as I know shot time should not matter but when in doubt of course ask Mannies vet sure hope the abs help clear his infection up soon (((HUGS))))

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

Call me paranoid but I'd stay away from the fortiflora when a cat has issues and choose an alternative probiotic. I got scared off of it when I was looking into it for Maverick. I'd only use it on an issue free cat. But that's my opinion and I'd never have conflict with anyone over this. Not anti fortaflora just extra conservative when it comes to its use.

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

oh wow - and i missed all you guys!

Hi Christie - thanks! we are down some at +2. he is in good spirits - it's one of the things that I really love about him - whatever he is dealing with he always is such a good guy - never complains about anything... it's just so nice. then on the other hand it sometimes if hard to really tell when something is wrong. :?

Hi Karrie - I remember something about that - but can't remember the specifics. since the vet called though I now know we are dealing with another issue. so many variables in this sugar dance.

Hi Deb - and thanks so much. not a pretty day in Mannie land - but at least I know now why.

Hi Ann - I had hoped so - but it seems our first wish - that there was some sort of an infection, has come to be. Not what I really wanted, but at least now I know hat is what and we can treat this, can get him back on track. I am relieved.

Tess!!! Come and save me!!! It will take ropes, cuz me bean says i need medicine now and I can't come down on my own. i'm really scared..... what's medicine.... i dunno...... she says it tastes good and stuff.... oh sure... why don't i believe her..... come and gets me! I want ice cream too! ~~ Mannie

Spot - I hope the human kitty fels better. we purred and purred and purred! She seemed to like it. We shall think of her, and maybe we can go again if she needs another visit... lubs you - Mannie

Willie - you are so right! We need to go again tomorrow... so many kitties! Good idea my friend. ~~ Mannie

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

I haven't been able to visit condos too much today and was sorry to hear about Mannie, although I'm glad there is an answer to his high numbers. I hope the clavamox does the trick and he is back to normal soon.

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

shessshhh - i keep missing thse posts....

THANK YOU GUYS! you really are the best. I cannot thank all of you enough.

Thanks Sienne and Lisa: ok on the two hour thing - i just could not remember. it's coming back to me now... i remember the thing with fortiflora and not with ABs. When you don't normally need these things you become an idiot and can't remember anything....  well hopefully Mannie's appy will be ok - he's never turned down a meal yet. Guess we shall find out.

Thanks Karrie - all opinions are welcome. I've never had to deal with a probiotic, so am clueless on any of them.

Celi - thank you too!

Thanks Georgia - much appreciated! I am so grateful to now have an explanation for all that has been going on with him.

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

Well thank goodness something was figured out.

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

AND...you get to sleep tonight! Sorry to hear he has a UTI, but like you said, at least you have an explanation now and know what you're dealing with. So odd so many LL kitties at the vetty's today. Kibby really enjoyed his ktss treatment - he's feeling so much better that he already escaped the house and when he realized I was trying to stop him, he was up and over the fence in no time. ohmygod_smile He's back now, but I was sure hoping he'd be easy to keep inside for longer than this!

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

Don't want to say "good news" about a UTI, but it explains a lot! Plain yogurt with active cultures (Greek style, if possible) would work, too, to counter the good-bacteria-killing effects of the antibiotic. Some cats like yogurt (Stu did). Forti Flora works just fine. It apparently tastes really good to cats. Just sprinkle a little on his food (but don't use the whole envelope at once!!!!)

Good luck with the Clavamox. It also comes in liquid form that you administer with an eye dropper. Stu hated it!!!!!

Mannie, now you can bring down your numbers. I'll help you monitor, OK?

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!

wow, what a textbook case of the connection between unusually high numbers and an infection!

Um, thanks, Mannie, you have been a great model, you can get well now!

Feel better vines to you all!

Re: 1/25 Mannie PMPS "HI", +2 480, vet: UTI!
