1/24 Spot - eyes please, maybe dosing advise

Hi everyone! I know I usually don't come around for advise, but I could use some around now. Please take a look at Spot's spread sheet. He has been running higher than usual for a while. I have been giving him .6u.

He had a dental done on Tuesday and had two extractions...a canine and a premoler (sp?). They gave him some bupe for pain, 2 cc's twice daily if needed. However, he does not seem to need it...so he got a dose yesterday morning and another this morning. I don't think he's poo'd, which is probably because of the bupe, but I can't be sure since there are 4 cats in the house.

I'm thinking about increasing his insulin a few drops. Any input on this?

The link in your signature brings up a sheet with numbers from 2008 on it ;-)

I think his numbers look pretty good, and close to what he has been for awhile.
His numbers may just be slightly higher from a little constipation from the bupe.
If you increase the dose by a drop, then just watch him, because as he heals, they may drop .

no, mom will but I don't have any strips for "her" meter. I won't be home until next Sunday...all day that is

I clicked on the 2011 spreadsheet and it still took me to the sheet with his numbers in 2008.

I think I would leave it, if you're not going to be home, and he has other issues that may be resolving any day now.
Let's see if others have differing opinions.

I think Dyana's advice is good. To be honest, if he was mine I would probably be fattening the dose because I'm addicted to green. If you're not going to be home much, though, and if his pain meds might bring him down, then it's safer to leave him where he is. The numbers are only barely higher than usual and they're still very healthy numbers. Just MHO.

Thanks Libby! Thanks Dyana! I guess I'll sit on my hands and wait a few more days. I do like those greens too...145 was way to high for me tonight, but I'll try to be patient!

I'll get some strips tomorrow and when I'm ready to up the dose a drop or two, mom will be ready!

I might also give it another day or two to work the anesthesia out of his system and so you know he's feeling good before raising the dose.
