Kitkat was out prowling in the wee hours for almost 2 hrs, must have gotten into some garbage or food. Matt was up and couldn't sleep, he tested him when Kitkat finally came back in and he was 176, retested after 20 minutes to double check and it was 171.
There is a lady down the street that sets out food for stray kitties and Kitkat may have popped over there for a 'pop and chips and cake' party! I'm thinking this is the most likely reason he is so high?
Way to throw off our numbers little buddy! We'll see how he goes for the rest of the day.

Well, I am thoroughly impressed with how well he's done today. Seeing him drop back down to normal so quickly and hold steady after a high of 176 has got to be a good sign his big ole fluffy body is working as it should? lol... No more flight of fancy midnight foraging Kitkat!:p I sat him down and we had a good long talk about it. !;)

Can you make sure he doesn’t get outside? Is he an outside kitty?
Who wouldn’t go out to a party if there was one up the street?
Hi @Bron and Sheba (GA) Silly cat! It must have been a non=diabetic party!!!!!
We will now make sure he doesn't go out in the morning, since he did the same last week (about 1 hr gone). He is an outdoor kitty for sure, and always has been. Normally he just hangs in the yard, and he prefers outside poops in 1 of 2 little garden spots in our backyard.
He very rarely goes for a walk-about, especially this last year or so. Throughout the day (if the weather is ok) he will go out 3-4 times, usually just for 5-10 minutes, winter does slow him down, and he prefers to walk on shovelled walkways (paws in snow! EEK!) or just sit and sniff the air a good while. Bird and squirrel watching :p
I have him booked in for the groomer on Monday, and she will trim up his claws nice. This also will stop him from wandering as he cannot jump our 6 ft fence without them.
i worry like crazy when he takes off, yet it would break my heart to refuse him the outdoors, and have him meow, scratch at the door incessantly, and of course try repeatedly to open the door himself.
No more sunrise walk abouts now , (and he's never been allowed out after dark). :cat:

I Just realized his profile pic is of him stretched out on our patio table last summer. And this is what Kitkat calls "Bird Watching", a little snooze in our new birdbath till a feathery friend comes along???
