Hello all,
Thanks for following our saga as of late!
Fred is perking up, but still not himself. He was VERY cheerful last evening..wanting to eat, and very affectionate. Part Zofran, I'm sure, and part ridiculously high BS. That's what I get for giving him 2u! At least he came down overnight.
Fred's last dose of ondansetron was at 6PM yesterday, EST. I wake up every night around +5-6 every night to test him, and that's when I know if he has a snack. He did so last night, heading straight for the bowl. But, then after he ate, he looked uncomfortable, and I thought, "Uh oh...that's it". But then he jumped on me two more times for additional food. This AM, he slowwwly and reluctantly ate his breakfast but tried to run under the bed, first. I've put him through so much that he's now so suspicious of me. :-(( The question is, how much of this "eating" is from the Zofran still in his system, or how much is that he's feeling a bit better on his own.
I ask the above because of all times, I'm supposed to be traveling for a few days, starting tomorrow. I have a wonderful pet sitter, but there's no way she can pill him, and no way I can leave her with a sick and inappetent cat. I have to make the call soon, and I'm agonizing over what to do.
I'm loathe to bring him to the vet, because that will stress (and nauseate) him to no end, and the only thing they can do there that I can't do is fluids, and perhaps get another dose of ondansetron in him. I don't want Cerenia. It makes him extremely lethargic and inappetent. I know fluids help, but do they help with nausea to any lasting effect?
