I've noticed Tiki isn't as hungry as he used to be (yay) and isn't licking every bowl of food clean like he used to. I had been giving him 2 cans at a time at both his am/pm feedings. I guess my concern about giving him less is he wont have any food to go to if he finishes it and his BG's drop when I am not at home during the day. But how much help does the LC classic FF's give to low BG's anyway?

Any thoughts on reigning in the food amounts?

Wish I had some advice, but I do the same thing you do. It depends on how carb sensitive Tiki is. I know that LC helps Tarragon when he dips low and he knows to eat so that is a good thing.

Most cats' appetite begins to decrease as they get better regulated so the change in appetite is a good sign. Melissa makes a good point -- will Tiki eat on his own if food is available?

(I'm convinced that Gabby sleeps through the day when I'm not here despite there being food in the automatic feeder. I think Gizmo eats the snacks.)

Tiki is a grazer and nibbles throughout the day. I'm just noticing he is starting to not eat EVERYTHING like he has been since Oct. My concern was if I start to give him only one can (instead of the regular two I've been giving him) if he starts to drop and wants some food there wont be enough. Maybe I'll keep giving him two cans in the AM as I am usually gone throughout the day and hold back in the evenings as needed.

That sounds like a good idea to me. I feed a couple meals before I leave for the day, and leave out a couple of frozen meals to thaw while I'm gone, and also have the automatic feeder open around nadir time. I have two cats, so I want to have enough out, in case Ginger gets hungry and eats a bunch, that J.D. will still have some left for him, if needed.

Hi Tonya. I've always wondered the same thing...how much good does LC do for low numbers? I tend to overcarb when I go out, for fear Checks will drop, and the lc won't help.
I wish I had advice about getting Tike to eat less at a time, but I have the opposite problem. Checks isn't food driven.

I'm sure it's another ECID thing. When Weezer went to the 120s (low for her) some very low carb food took her up to 190. You just have to see how it plays out with Tiki.

Off to a good start tonight with a nice pretty blue ribbon number of 123. Just fed him and he took a couple nibbles and then joined me at the computer, purring his head off, to help type up his update. His favorite place in the world is sitting ON my laptop's keyboard.

Now it's back to work....(love my job, love my job, love my job...) :roll: :roll:

350am and I am just going to bed. But not before Psycho Kitty told me exactly what he thought of his ONE can of FF at dinner time - needless to say I just gave him a second can or there would be NO SLEEP to be had tonight (this morning...uuugh).
