1/23 Miss Kitty AMPS 361, box question

Went to a good number last night, little bounce up this morning.

She had a couple more out of box incidents yesterday, but she still uses the box. I don't hear her crying while using the box, I watched her use it yesterday. She seems to be limping sometimes too. I wonder if she has some arthritis and just does not want to walk to the box. Another funny thing is she will not stand in the liter. There's a lip around the box and she stands on that and does her business, but she has always done that. Husband is calling the vet today. Any thoughts on this?

She might have some arthritis. It's best to get it checked out by the vet, to be sure.

Is it pee or poo? If it's pee, then you may want to have the vet check for a urinary or bladder problem. If he wants to do this, a sterile sample is best drawn directly from her bladder and they can send out for a C&S (Culture and Sensitivity) test.

For arthritis, some people have tried Cosequin. I used that, and J.D. didn't like the taste, and so my other cat always ate it for him :? I now give J.D. Adequan (which is injectable, so it goes in the right cat), but you'll have to discuss all this with your vet.

Hi guys .. hmm .. if miss kitty is urinating outside of the box she might have an infection going on .. or it could just be she has arthritis and she might be in pain those times .. A vet visit is a good idea at this point either way .. have a great day!

can you check her paws to see if they hurt? There still could be something bothering her that makes it hurt to stand on the litter.

If there is no pain that you can determine and the vet visit checks out ok, I know there are different kinds of litter that may be softer, or maybe she has become sensitive to the scent of whatever you are using. Maybe experiment with different kinds. Specifically I have seen a Dr. Elsey litter that is made for senior cats, though I haven't tried it. Jazzy used the pelleted paper litter pretty well for a while (she had owie feet because she had a botched declaw when she was younger).
