Leroy did have a snack at +4 and +6 as usual so maybe the higher numbers are from a food spike? Or he was a bit stressed with me trying to poke him.

Spreadsheet is updated but I need to note the possible fur shots as someone suggested. Vet's secretary will pass along the spreadsheet to the vet to review.

Trying a pack of BD 1/2cc 29 gauge 1/2 inch and BD 3/10cc 31 gauge 5/16 with Leroy later until my ADW order arrives. The longer needles most likely work better since I use the same needles with a 1ml syringe for the methyl B12. I'll just replace the packs with the UltiCare ones I got from the vet. For what I do at work, the UltiCare syringes will work just fine.

I wonder why 3/10cc syringes aren't available in 1/2 inch needles and with half unit markings.

For early days (and fur shots), I think the mid cycle blues are pretty good.

I used BD's, 31g and half unit markings, they came in various lengths. But that was a few years ago and in Canada. I preferred the slightly longer ones too.

I found U40 syringes that are 3/10 cc with half unit markings and 1/2 inch needles (BD brand) but not U100 syringes. Not a big deal, though. The 5/16 inch needles will work if Leroy ever needs a half dose. I think clipping a bit of fur away might help. Leroy has short Aby fur so I have no idea why fur shots are an issue with him. Squishy had longer fur and short needles worked for him.

Refresh my memory - how important is the 12/12 schedule with Lantus? Leroy eats breakfast at 5am and generally eats dinner sometime between 3pm and 4pm. On weekdays dinner may be a bit later depending on when I get home from TBP.

You can easily move the schedule 1/2 hour once per day, or 15 minutes a cycle and be OK. Ideally, until you have a better handle on how much of a food bump Leroy gets from his dinner (get some of those +1 tests in the AM), you'd not feed for a couple hours before PMPS. You want to make sure that if you get a lowish PMPS, it's not even higher because of the influence of the food from his dinner. If his numbers are high, you have a little more leeway in shooting a bit earlier.

When is shot time compared to his breakfast and dinner? Most of us test, feed, shoot all within about 15 minutes.

He gets fed right after I test him. He'll hold still for me to inject but not to test. I used a 1/2 inch needle for PMPS (198) and it worked much better.

I don't leave food out during the day. Leroy has never wanted food for snacking on during the day. He'll eat canned but he's not much of a fan of it unless it's gravy based or something fishy.

Diabetic Leroy may want food during the day if he's going low. Maybe he'll change his tune on how picky he is.

Seems a little late for that, he should have onset and gone down. Unless he's bouncing. Or New Dose Wonkiness. Or cat.
