Hi guys, here's yesterday's condo...

Had some major vetty issues yesterday and into today, which is why I haven't been on the board much!
Sooty's been having some problems, sudden inappetance, lethargy yesterday. We now think it's most likely been an outbreak of Pancreatitis (but a definite Dx is still pending blood test results). He's now on meds for it anyhow (Bupe & Pepcid AC) and is doing fine, responding really well to the Tx, he's now eating again and feeling much better.
Have cut back the insulin while we deal with this but you wouldn't know it by his BG levels (but then, you all know the Sootster well enough by now!)

Anyhow we're sorry to have 'gone missing' for a while there - but all is now seemingly under control <anti-jinx!> and things are looking up!

It sounds like you caught this early. You know your kitty so well!! I hope he's back to himself quickly. Sending all kinds of feel better vines.

Really glad you are so on top of things and got tx started. That will make a world of difference!

Did I read at one point Sooty recently had a UTI (enterococcus?) . Were you able to recheck the urine to make sure its gone? Latte had the enterococcus, but hers was resistant to a/b's. Sounds like Sooty had a different strain - thank goodness!

I'm glad you reacted quickly and took Sooty to the vet. Glad to hear he's responding well! I hope he's feeling like himself really soon. LOL at the (anti-jinx). I do that all the time. I can't help it!!

Healing vines to Sooty! Nice catch.....I think so many people miss those really subtle symptoms of pancreatitis. Hope Sooty is doing much better in the days ahead.
 
Thanks everyone, I feel bad about not visiting in person to say thanks for all the vines and well-wishes - but you know how it goes..
Carolynn, yesy he had enterococcus faecalis UTI, Dx in December; his strain was sensitive to Amoxi so he went on that for about 25 days, it was only last Monday they sent a new a sample to Antech for culture, to check if we 'got it' all - last we heard, the culture was clear after 48hrs so we hope so. That bac. enterococcus does have some very a/b resistant strains, so we were lucky that 'ours' wasn't...

Sooty's doing much better today, eating MUCH better, temperature's down, looking comfortable, etc so whatever it is, seems to be under control at least.

OK - got to go write up a new Condo for Saturday, now...!!
