We are back in business! I guess yesterday was just a bounce/keep the beans guessing kinda day. This is already our 7th cycle on this dose! With the greens she's been getting, I'll be holding it, and hopefully she'll level things off in the next several cycles. She always does take a bit of time to settle down whenever we do an adjustment, whether that adjustment is up or down.

I finally learned out how to figure out where our Wellness is from ohmygod_smile :roll: :-D !! We have 5.5oz cans from the US. Man, that print is TINY...I could barely read it, even with my prescription reading glasses on! I'll look for Canadian Wellness next time I'm out, to see if Trix notices a difference. I know Ella said the small Canadian cans seem to get the best reviews, so I'll see if I can track those down.

I am going to have to go search Ella's post about Wellness ???? I use both Wellness and Weruva...so you've got my curiosity up about the US cans vs Canadian.

@Rise - Many Wellness users have noticed their kitties prefer one country of origin over the other. I think Canadian Wellness seems to win out overall, though. I've never tried out the theory myself, but since Trix is SO sick of Wellness and it's what we're stuck with feeding 'cause of the carbs/phosphorous (and she hates EVO and the Weruva flavors spike her BGs), I finally found out where her current batch was made and out of curiosity I will see if I can find the Canadian. It says where it's made under the little recycling emblem. If I didn't know to look there, I would never be able to distinguish that it says "Made in the USA"!

I so know on those wellness cans... I never bothered to check, as Mannie didn't care. He liked Wellness, so I used it alot, we never had an issue with him wanting or not wanting it, though he did have marked preference for the turkey and chicken flavors... :roll: Good luck with your search!

She just barfed...I have no idea why. I just heard her in the hallway - I didn't see what led up to it. She certainly did not strike me as being nauseated...she's been her usual snuggly self. Argh. Well, I'm home with her to keep an eye on things. She's usually not a barfer, but once in awhile she does do it.

She seems OK now...she saw me head into the kitchen and followed me, asking for something to eat with many "meows". I gave her a small "plop" (as we affectionately call her "treat-sized" snacks of Wellness), and she trailed me all during the preparation (opening new can, adding water, sprinkling with FortiFlora), all the while tell me to step up the pace! Now, she's having a lovely, heart-felt post-snack paw-n-face wash. Hopefully this was just one of those flukey isolated barfs that do happen from time-to-time.

Hi Amy,
I had to ask the associate in Petco to read the Wellness cans for me! I didn't have any reading glasses with me. Unfortunately, the country of origin did not make a difference to Cleo :sad:

Lovely numbers for Trixie, sounds like the pukus was just a one time thing.

Hi Amy, so glad you found that small print on the can where the Wellness is made. When I order from WAG.com, I never know which one they will send, so now I look at the cans in the store (with my glasses and mg's, too :? ). Katie and Maggie (GA) both liked the Canadian Wellness.

All righty then....I guess we're back in "bounce/fuds spike/keep the bean guessing" mode! Eh, it's OK...not a bad number, and we should be able to turn in at a reasonable hour.

We're supposed to get socked with snow again tomorrow. I'm hoping the timing is good - just enough for me to be able to call it an early work day tomorrow; not so much that we have to close on Wednesday (when you own the business, snow days take on a whole 'nuther meaning!"). Fingers crossed the snow gods are listening!

The Canadian Wellness cans are 3 oz. cans and say "Product of Canada" on the label. Rusty likes the firmer texture of the Canadian cans (the USA cans are "fluffier"). I think that the USA cans are mostly 5 oz. cans now, but it used to be that some were 3 oz. (some may still be). The USA 3-oz. cans have a large A in a circle on the bottom, along with the lot number and date. And if you buy a case, the case will also have the large A on the side. The Canadian cases have only the lot number and date on the side, no big letters. Hope this helps. The Wellness customer representative told me last summer that the California plant (the cans with the big A) was closing and all American manufacture would be in the New Jersey plant and that they would be making 5 oz. cans and larger cans. The 3 oz. cans would be made in Canada. But I think that you can't always be certain, and I look at each 3-oz. can to make sure it is "Product of Canada". If the store has sealed cases, I always put a hole in the plastic and pull out a can to make sure.

What we don't go through!! I hope that Trix was just scarfing and barfing--nothing worrisome.

Ok, "keep the beans guessing" Trixie girl, time to go the other way now! Sorry about the puke, I'm glad to see it didn't happen again. I wish they could tell us why they do, like "oops hairball" or "yuk irritated tummy"...
