Good Morning, Everyone,

Cold today (11 degrees) and expected to get colder and colder as the day progresses. But there will be some sunshine. I'm about to head out on a ski and hope that the trail will have enough snow on it. Edward is staying home. He doesn't ski and didn't want to snowshoe two days in a row, especially since he would be the only one on showshoes.

Rusty had a good night and has another nice green AMPS. Today was weigh day, and he is holding steady at 16 lbs. 12.5 oz. We had a good test, breakfast, shot, a good play with the tinsel wand and crinkle sack, and a "hairball -gel treat". The boys are home alone today, but I expect to be back in time for +9.

I hope all is well in LL today and we are continuing to send healing thoughts and vines to Sid, Rocket, and all kitties and beans under the weather.

Happy Friday, TGIF!

Another great day for Rusty. I never get tired of saying that!

Have a great ski outing Ella. the boys will keep the home fire burning.

Ditto!

Have fun today and I'm sure the boys will be happy and warm at home.

Re: 1/20 Rusty AMPS 82

Rusty could teach some of our kitties (yes, Champ, you) about how to start the day in the green lagoon!!!

You really make me want to get outside and do something fun. I've been talking to my DD about starting to play tennis again. We used to play all the time. I started her in lessons when she was 7 and she played all the way through high school....and hasn't picked up a racquet since!!! We both love it, though, and we both need the exercise. You're going to be my inspiration, Ella!!!

Re: 1/20 Rusty AMPS 82, +8.5 41/45

Hi again,
It was quite a surprise to come home from the ski (which turned into a snowshoe for me!) to a bg 41! Retested and got 45. Edward had fed Rusty his normal lunch (Wellness turkey and a smidgen of FF T&G). But when I got home Rusty wanted to be tested! He was meowing for food, so he had some FF T&G and seems satisfied. I'm about to test him again (it's +10). Tested 73 at +10. That's about "normal" for this time of day. We'll see if he bounces later. I think he's angling for another "shave" and I may take him down to a "regular" 1.50 soon (from the present "less fat" 1.50).

Conditions on the trail were not ideal: not enough snow; lots of tree debris (small twigs and branches) from the high winds we had a couple of days ago; icy. The other skiers were much better than I, and I could see that it was going to be hard to keep up with them, so I went back to the car and got my snowshoes and did the trail on snowshoes. I'm glad I did, because it would have been very difficult in the steep spots (of which there were many). So I had a lovely walk in the winter woods with sunshine filtering through the trees and was fortunate to see a black-backed woodpecker!

off to make supper. bbl, Thanks for visiting Rusty today. Looking forward to visiting condos this evening.

p.s. Celi, just saw your photo of the day: wonderful! (yes, I do remember the Beatles!)

Hi all,

Wonderful day for Rusty - even that 41. That must have got your juices flowing... Be good Rusty, and surf well.

Well bummer on the no ski, but at least you got to snowshoe. It sounds beautiful - Hooray (!!) on the woodpecker sighting. We are starting to thaw here. Now it is raining something fierce. And the big thaw begins. SO of course the big worry now is flooding... Never a dull moment.

Have a good night!

Lovely description of a lovely day, Ella. It makes me feel like buying a pair of snowshoes, even though I hate snowshoeing. How fortunate you are to have seen a BB woodpecker! You must be really far north -- I thought their habitat was primarily Canada. And Rusty, as usual, has great numbers. Enjoy your evening, Ella.

Hi again,
Randa: Yes, it was really neat to see the black-backed woodpecker. We are at the southern edge of its range (about 45 miles south of the Quebec border) and the habitat here in this part of northern NY is largely boreal forest. This woodpecker was working on a dead branch and throwing down lots of pieces of bark. The ground underneath was littered.

Michelle: better get out your canoe!

Patty: tennis is a terrific game. You and your DD should start to play again. I used to play with my mother when I was in high school and she was so much better than I (I could hardly ever return her wicked serve!).

Off to condos. Rusty is barely blue.

Woohoo for Rusty today, gorgeous numbers for him. Does this mean a reduction for Rusty?

Your day out sounds lovely, I love being outside on a nice winter day.

Have a great evening Ella and Rusty.
