Good Morning all my kindred spirits. I was just bragging about all of you, how amazing you are and what wonderful hearts you have.
Thank God for you.
Keep Booty in your prayers today. Her appointment with the Dental Specialist is @9:30 AM. It's a 45 min. drive. Boots does
not like car rides too much. Pray she isn't too stressed on the way there. Pray the dentist has discernment on what the best care
for Boots is, the care that will keep my 17 year old Booty alive. The dentist is known for her dental work of course, but also
her expertise in the Anesthesia. This is what what it said on the site:
"In addition to thorough per-anesthetic screening, Dr. Force monitors her patients closely. This includes blood pressure, temperature, CO2, pulse Oxygenation, EKG, heart rate and respiration. All her patients have IV catheters and receive intravenous fluids during anesthesia. Anesthestic safety is one of her prime concerns."

Boot ate a lot better tonight. Great idea on the baby food Sienne. I ran her raw food in the processor again and she's eating a little.
She doesn't like baby food, the kind in the jars. Thank you for the tip. Her BS's are still high, but she's not acting so miserable now,
so now neither am I. Plus it's being handled. When I think of the reality of her put under, hooked to a bunch of tubes..I have
stop thinking. nailbite_smile

Re: 1/20 Boots AMPS 322

Perfect dental vines and quick recovery vines being sent to Boots today.

Re: 1/20 Boots AMPS 322

Sending you prayers and good dental vines with no stress. Sometimes cats respond well to classical music during car trips. Take good care. mary and oliver

Re: 1/20 Boots AMPS 322

Sending good dental vines. Please keep us updated on how Boots is doing.

Also, remember that if you need pain meds, most of us opt for buprenorphine/buprenex. No Metacam or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory meds. Metacam, in particular, has an FDA black box warning due to causing renal failure in cats.

If an antibiotic is needed, I'd steer away from Convenia. Some cats are allergic and it's a shot that lasts 2 weeks. There's little you can do if Boots has a reaction.

Hello sweet souls,
Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers and for taking the time to stop by my condo and help me. It made
all the difference in the world to wake up to the day ahead of myself and Boots. I wasn't alone

Sienna, great timely advise. I had read all those things about the med., but I would not have remembered
the names or to have brought them. I printed out what you said and was able to communicate intellegently.
The Den..specialist, Dr. Force completely agreed with the pain med.and said about Convenia, "they still use that"?

And Jill, so nice of you to visit my condo, your reassuring words were a comfort.

Booty is probably under under as I type. At 12:30 pacific time, I called, they had put her on on fluids. Dr Force, was finishing up
with another patient, then she would start Boots. I brought her raw baby blended food, so they wouldn't feed her theirs. She probably won't need,
but just in case. Dr. Force wasn't all weird about the raw.

Thanks for the update. Please keep us in the loop as you hear more about how Boots is doing. Did the vet say what she thought the dental issue is?

(Unfortunately, a lot of vets will give Convenia because they think their doing you a favor so you don't have to give a pill!)

Re: 1/20 Boots AMPS 322 +345 +7 339**update**

she said gums looked infected and that she would know more when she got the plaque off and saw the xrays.

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375** update 2**

Just talked w/ dental assist. Boots is about to go under. Dr Force decided to shoot 1/2 her reg.dose of lantus, because she's so high.
Originally plan was to not shoot. They shot her 2hrs past her normal shooting time. I'm gonna be up late tonight.

I went over the needle reading with Assistant,,,glad their only doing 1/2 the amount, just in case they don't understand the syringe
correctly.

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375** update 2**

Paws crossed for great success!

Good dental vines for Boots and Coping Vines and Hugs for you as you wait.... @-)

This should really help Boots after its all over.... :-D

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375** update 3**

Going to get Boots. The good news is, her teeth look good. The not so good news and hopefully
not bad news is, they found a mass behind the tooth and Dr Force wants to do a biopsy on it.
I''ll know more, exact location when I see Doc. I'm trying not to go there, but it's upsetting. Biopsy
results should come back Monday or Tues.

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375** update 3**

Sending benign test result vines. Fingers and Paws crossed here.

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375** home**

So we are home. Dentist thought over all Boot's teeth looked surprisingly good for a cat her age.
The mass she said might just be an ulceration caused by tarter build up. I hope that's all it is. I'll
know she said Wed. or Thurs. She said roots, everything looked good, except that mass. When
she had all her blood work done (last week) there weren't any abnormalities with her blood. I'm thinking, hoping
it was where the tarter was, that when she bit down, I could hear it. The dentist said that's
most likely what was causing the pain and BS's to go up.

Advise on shooting. Her BS's when leaving the dentist were 400. Dr. Force said to shoot at Boot's normal time, 12am
They gave her 1/2 of the .75 (hopefully), at 2pm. So 2hrs late. she said since they are so high, it will be OK. to shoot
2hrs early.
Opinions???

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375** update 3**

I think you are going to need to gauge where Boots' numbers are. Get a test now that you're home. It will give you a comparison at your shot time. Anesthesia can cause numbers to drop and many cats do not eat well after a dental procedure. Theoretically, it may be fine to shoot early but practically, it may mean you're going to need to be up monitoring. Having had the experience of giving Gabby her full dose after a dental and having her numbers drop and her not having her usually excellent appetite, it's not something I'd recommend.

Remember, an early shot acts like a dose increase.

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375**home**

Yeah, I totally agree. That's what I told the vet and why I wanted a third opinion. I'm more with the mindset
you have. I'm giving her a break right now. She's in the crate, pretty looped. Took her out because she peed in the crate and was
not happy. Who would be? It's hard getting her in the crate and when she walk she's
like a drunken sailor, don't want her to fall down and it makes her nauseous. So in another 20 min., I'll try again.
Thank you Sienne for being here. for us. xo

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375**home**

Shelly

I'm glad it all went well and I'm sending major benign healing vines for Boots! Paws crossed its just the ulcer.

I recently met with the board certified anesthesiologist who always does anesthesia for all our cats.....she is amazing and known nationwide. I wanted to discuss her approach with Gracie. She said if kitty is too high during a procedure, she will give a bolus insulin to bring the numbers down. But she said anesthesia often has a residual effect and so the BG can come down even lower after the dental and so she has to very cautious about managing BG. And, as Sienne said, if Boots doesn't feel like eating, you have a compounded problem.

Ann also had to deal with really low BG during the night of the day Maggie had her dental. So I'd be careful about shooting early.

Re: 1/20 Boots PMPS 375 +7 338 **home**

Thank you,
Advise well taken. I won't shoot early. No worries in the food department. I started her with about
a tablespoon and a half of baby raw, because she was engulfing it and didn't want her to throw up. Gonna give some
more, as that took her 2 seconds to devour.

I think she still feels the the anesthesia. Just gave her the pain meds. Boots loves the drugs, the people at
the dentist even commented on that. She's in a great mood!
