Some funny things have been going on with Baxters #s the last couple of days.

He is already at 88 & it's only been +4 since PM shot .50 u-40 needle.

Could I end up with a problem on my hands tonight?

This is low for him so early.

Suggestions please. His SS is updated.

Re: 1/20~Baxter +4 @88~A Problem?

What is with the kitties who insist on pulling this crap at night instead of during daylight hours?
It certainly is worthy of keeping an eye on, Jenn. I don't think it's crisis time though. See what +5 looks like (what time, 1:30 eastern?)
I'll be up and watching.
Can you measure .25 in the syringe? Thinking that might become his new normal dose.... very good day for NS this morning too.

Looks like his pancreas had things under control today from +8 onward. The number may have been falling or surfing at shot time tonight. Very interesting...

Re: 1/20~Baxter +4 @88~A Problem?

Thanks Carl. I am central time Houston, Texas. You know...last weekend when the Texans got beat by the Ravens.... :cry: we were so close. So it would be 12:30 @ +5 central time & 1:30 eatern time.

I spoke with the vet today & he told me to lower the dose to .50. I am thinking it is to much. He doesn't support really anything lower. I do! I did buy some U~100 needles from which I understand is easier to dose .25 is that correct?

Yesterday Baxter dipped into the 60's the vet wasnt to pleased with being that low. That was with 1 unit.

You know I have been down this path before. I find it good, but a little nerve racking.

Re: 1/20~Baxter +4 @88~A Problem?

The U100 syringes work best with any sort of smaller doses. u40 doses in .2 increments seem to convert best. The multiplier is 2.5, so
.4 would be 1u on a u100 syringe.
.2 = .5 u100
.3 = .75 u100
but .25 would come out to .625 on a u100, so that's really hard to eyeball.

I think the .5 is a tad too much too, and if things keep going like they look like they're going (anti-jinx!), you're vet is just going to have to deal with lower than .5 doses!

P.S. I was hoping the Texans would win too. I'm sick of the Ravens. I'm a Pats fan, having been raised in Massachusetts... I'm hoping they blow the Ravens away on Sunday!

Re: 1/20~Baxter +4 @88~A Problem?

+5~105.
I let him in the garage & forgot he had food left from dinner. He ate a tiny bit before I caught him.
He is a thief!
I agree with lowering the dose. I think in the morning I will give him .25 depending on his AMPS.

Thanks for the Texan support. It was a big disappointment. I don't want the Ravens to win either. The Pats are a really strong team I think they will beat the Ravens. :RAHCAT

He was just trying to make sure you could get a good night's sleep! That food should keep him in good numbers, so that's a good thing.

Aww...he is such a good boy! Making sure mommy gets sleep in hopes I wake up earlier to feed him.

Ok I think we are fine. He likes to keep me on my toes. Such a crazy little guy, but I love him. cat_pet_icon

Thanks Carl! You need sleep to. So goodnight.

Jenn,
You're welcome! I'm off this weekend, so wasn't worried about it, but yeah, I could use some zzzzzzz's.

I'll check in tomorrow,
