Good Morning Lantus Land!!!! ~O) ~O)

It is a balmy 20F this morning with a snowstorm on the way. Plans are to get out of here by 9am and back by 11am! We need cats fuds for tonight.

Attie continues to challenge me to leave him alone and trust the fates! ohmygod_smile

This morning we're doing a BCS dose, shaved down to a 3.0u. I have 3 hours to monitor him for complications. Wasn't it just a month ago I was claiming I'd be satisfied with just blue/yellow?

Even way down here in the mid-50's this morning Attie seems happy today. He is alert, playful and investigative. He is hunting and stalking that impish creature called the tortie this morning.

I wrote Attie's old vet from the shelter a few days ago and this is what he sent back:

Atlas is one for the books and reminds us that some times we try too hard in trying to feed cats "the right diet" according to the experts. Cats have been living just fine on raw diet for century's, DUH. Its GREAT to hear that Atlas is doing SO WELL. when you get a chance send pic's to me and the shelter. There are a lot of Atlas fans out there. Thank you for all of your hard work and persistence, I hope that Atlas is able to return the favor for many years to come.

What a beautiful amps for Atlas he is doing so great I agree at one time I said the same thing and then you decide you want nothing but green :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

What a nice note from your vet. That must make you very happy.
Of course these fantastic numbers he's been getting must make you very happy, too.
Maybe Attie and talk to J.D. about his secrets, too.

Appetite test bazillion and one...fail.

So, what do you do when they stop eating like a starving diabetic cat and start having an appetite like a regular kitty grazer? When we started using the timed feeder Attie would run to the feeder or wait in front of it in anticipation of the next full chamber to reveal itself!

Now, he is missing meals. And I do understand it is because his numbers are normal. Lots of stuff going back to normal. Yesterday he came looking for a handout late and I found a missed meal, still sitting in the last open chamber.

I am not going to always be here to 'encourage' him to eat. He's not scarfing anymore and MudCat won't eat his food....time to free-feed?

If he's not a scarfer why not try free feeding. Maverick eats when Maverick wants to eat. A timed feeder would mean missed meals for him which is why we haven't tried it. That note from the vet was so awesome. Attie has some fans here too.

Out and back and home again, home again, skitty cat!

Great morning all around, may have a ladies agreement for an expanded service for my company. Details coming soon!!! WooHoo!!!

Attie looks like he is holding steady. Probably will go blue this evening due to the BCS shot this morning, but I can't take any chances with him not getting carbs in low numbers and not being home with him.

Well I just saw the most amazing notice on the community board at the drugstore.

A picture of a beautiful cat, with a description that matched where I had searched. He was found running door to door to window begging to be let in from the cold. It seems that kitty did have a Christmas miracle. They took him in, had him vetted, and are now fostering him until he finds a home.

That made my day!!!! I missed your post on Christmas so I didn't know about this. How wonderful that you have closure on that also and know that kitty is in a good home waiting for their forever home. Great news.

WOW - have you bitten off all your nails yet? what wonderful numbers for Attie - nerve wracking, but so so nice.

wonderful on the vet email - so awesome. and even more awesome on the Xmas kitty - I remember that, and have often wondered whatever happened to him. So so good to read that he was taken in. :-D :-D That made my day.

Some numbers that boy is throwing at you these days! Go Atlas!!

What a lovely note from the vet at the shelter. And, the note about the kitty finding at least a temporary home made me smile. There really are caring people out there. Maybe it will be a "failed" foster and that beautiful cat will have found a forever home.

Sienne, how fast can their pancreas heal when in these ranges? I know dumb question ECID, but Attie's pulled quite a few miracles in a years time...is it possible for him to start dropping numbers and units this quick?

I did a BCS dose this morning! And now shaved that dose! I might not object to a few higher numbers like 150... :lol:

I'm not Sienne, but yes, they can heal really fast. Once they hit the "snap" (when the SS turns all blue and green) things can happen in a big hurry. Check out Lucy's spreadsheet. She is a great example because she was a serious bouncer too, but one day the bouncing stopped and the next thing I knew I was fighting to keep her from earning reductions too quickly (I wanted to support her pancreas for as long as possible since she had been on insulin for so long).

Good things happening here. :mrgreen:

I do remember your story Christmas day and how wonderful about the kitty!!! I know how upset you were.
