Hi Everyone,

We wish you and your furkids a very good year in 2017. We are so lucky to have this wonderful group of beans and kitties and thankful for your love and support.

This has been such a busy time that I haven't even opened my computer during the weekend. Our New Year's Eve party was a great success and Rusty was the purrfect host until it was his bedtime (which was just when we were beginning our midnight supper). The Laird of the Manner protested mightily, with loud meows that joined right in with "Happy New Year". After much attention was paid to him, but nonetheless it was clear to him that we were going to continue to party and not go to bed, he went to his basket and sulked. He also drank Xmas tree water! (I think he's been doing this all along even though he always has two big bowls of fresh water available: it must taste mighty good and maybe evokes ancient memories of the Maine Woods or the Norwegian forests. I hope he doesn't get sick from it!).

Rusty got a dosecrease at AMPS on New Year's eve --back up a drop to an old "favorite" dose: what I call a skinny 1/4 unit (0.46mm on the digital calipers, Terumo syrings). If it turns out to be too much, we'll go back down to the fat 1/8 unit. I was gearing up to switch to a different syringe, since my Terumos (from Tess's bequest, @Ann & Tess GA) are almost gone, but @Chris & China found a box that she had never used and sent it to me. I'll probably get this fabulous package tomorrow. THANK YOU, CHRIS! How great to have the day of reckoning postponed!

We are going snowshoeing this afternoon to start the year right (were too wiped out yesterday).

Happy New Year Ella! Neko loved the tree water too, and I heard Theo at it a couple of days ago. When I bought the tree they wanted to give me some preservative for the water, but I pointed out to them that it said not good for kids or pets. Pure is best.

Glad you've got enough snow for snowshoeing. You can have more of ours if you want. :rolleyes:
 
LagoonMeister Rusty spent some time in the lagoon this afternoon, just checking on the kitties. Hopefully he'll be back this evening.

The beans had a fine snowshoe on a glorious winter day: good snow, clear skies, no wind. Here's a pic of the Heron Marsh at the Visitors' Interpretive Center (VIC) at Paul Smiths:

I hope 2017 is off to a good start. Your party sounds wonderful, and ever so much fun. Too funny on the sulking Rusty. I can so see the scene. :joyful:

What a gorgeous day there today. Sunny skies, and sparkling snow. :cool: we are cold here, well cold for us. Highs are about 35, and we have a a few days coming up where we are 20 at night, 30 tops for the day. BRRRRRRRRRRRRR! We have had a few snow days too. Winter has arrived. :rolleyes:

Christmas became and went here. It was such a wonderful holiday to all of us. I hope it was for you too. Nicholas celebrated 6th birthday on Christmas, and we had separate day in addition that was devoted just to his birthday. He was one happy little boy. It has been a great past few days.

DH has cataract surgery, one eye, tomorrow. We expect all to go well. He is hopeful, and excited to get some of his vision restored. All else is going well for him. I hope Edward is doing well.

Rusty? Keep on truckin'! Maybe a few more trips to the lagoon. Green suits you. Lola wants to know if once she gets her catio and kitty run if you'll come and help her break it in. She is very excited, despite a pending delay. We have had to delay a couple of weeks, due to pending snow and cold temps... she is trying very hard to understand why the builders don't want to spend all day working outdoors in 20 degree weather. :eek:. She hopes to see her catio, window box and kitty run by the end of the month. PAWS CROSSED!

Hi Michelle, Wow, you guys are having a real winter (for Seattle, that is!). I'm so glad that Nicholas had a great birthday. He must be excited to be 6 years old (hard to believe that he is 6 already!). Great news that Greg will be able to have the cataract surgery. I hope all will go well and will be thinking good thoughts for him. Rusty would be pleased to help inaugurate the new catio. It's super news that work has begun on it.
Happy New Year to you all. Please tell Vanessa that the coffee has been so much appreciated during these busy holidays.

LagoonMeister Rusty is almost down to the water's edge this evening.
Time to turn in. Freezing rain hasn't started yet, but tomorrow is supposed to be terrible for driving. Luckily we don't have to go anywhere. 'night all.

Love reading about your days in the north and forays into nature. Beautiful photo (love them all, too) of a day meant for appreciating its glory.

Haven't had a xmas tree indoors for years, alas, but yes in those days drinking from the Christmas tree crock was quite the feat. Hoppy and others of his era then found drinking from the dishes of water atop the radiators much more adventurous than routing around prickly branches!

Have good day and settled in warm and snuggly.

Hi Ella, forgive me for highjacking your condo for a short response..

@carfurby thanks for the well wishes for DH, and the cataract surgery. He was able to get that done today. All went well, we were in and out of the surgery center in a hour. Follow appt on Friday. He says he, and the eye, feel great!

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) thx for the well wishes for DH. Amazing how well that kind of surgery goes. Quick, easy, and pretty much pain Free. Unbelievable! He is feeling well, anxious for his follow up appt, and getting new glasses. Dr says he can once again have god vision. Does hope! Yupp on winter! UNREAL for us. cold, and snow! Thx on Nicholas, and William. So so hard to believe Nicholas is 6! He's maturing into a very cool young man. Loves school and is doing very well there. William is right on his heels. Catio build should start, with the construction part, in about two weeks. I did give her, the designer, a two week delay to work around weather. Lola is planning one heckuva christening party, and hopes Rusty will be the head chef. Bug and Vanessa just want outdoor sunshine perches and some really good party food. :joyful:. Bug is planning on pizza. Vanessa is working on some pretty cool party beverages. Rusty, you in? Take care Ella, stay safe and warm. Sounds like you have some brutal weather coming in.
