Cliff woke me up in box, & then was very vocal/agitated abt being tested/fed? I always say that I prefer a little fight in my cats. To,me, the energy means he's feeling better?

Amps=435
Appy strong to start, but sputtered out. Two foods offered. Treats.
4.25 units

He seems calmer happier now. Content? Post shot.
I just wish he would've eaten more.

Next: cyproheptadine pill at 8a.
Can I move this up? We're off track. Says to dose every 12hrs. Right now, he's getting it after shot. I know it would help with pre shot meals.

In my past experiences with kitties who stopped eating normally, it took a few days before they came around. It wasn't an overnight thing. I don't have any experience with cypro dosing unfortunately.

I don't pay that much attention to q12 hr dosing with cypro with Murphy - I just go by twice a day
It usually starts working for Murphy within an hour - I always make sure ondansteron is on board when I give the cypro
Hope he eats more today - it can take awhile to get back to normal - I would give the "big three" - cerenia, ondansteron, cypro for at least several days after he seems back to normal

Maybe also call the vet and just ask if you can change the time of cypro? I agree, I think giving it before the meal...say 30 min to an hour before, would really help.

Thanks! They are back in the office today so I emailed them.
Thank you also @Carol & Murphy for your reply. I believe moving up a few hrs is fine, but wanted to see if anyone had experience!

Pmps=362-->I'm smiling abt this pink!
Gave cyproheptadine in pill pocket (vet replied that it was ok to dose early)
Fed, but appy still low. He seems hungry, but then stops eating. :(
Gave 4units.

Exchanged emails with the vet today. His urine culture came back negative, which negative is always good, but then leaves us with more questions... Why isn't he eating/what's the underlying cause (if any?)

They suggested we test/explore his pancreas next, & I said go for it!

For now, my goal is to keep at it with the meds and trying to get more food in him/increase his appetite. I let him out of seclusion for a while today, but he made his way back to the room I had him in. I will probably keep him here when I'm around to better monitor him, but let him free when I'm at work tomorrow. It stresses the cats out to be separated when no one is home.

When Murphy is recovering from pancreatitis, it always appears to me that he gets a painful abdomen after eating - that may be what is happening to Cliff. I am not so sure what you mean by "explore/test the pancreas", Michele?

An abdominal ultrasound and additional lab testing (gastrointestinal functional panel.)

Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully you get some answers and can come up with a good treatment plan!

whoa, it might be an early night for me. I feel myself crashing a bit. Today is/was my last day of Christmas break. I go back to work tomorrow. I didn't do much today--I paid some bills, set-up my new 2017 planner, made sure I had lunch for tomorrow.

This break has flown by, and I fear I don't feel very rested. :( It started with Cliff's first hypo episode on 12/23, the same day my father had surgery. I drove to PA and back to check on Dad over Christmas. Came home to play nurse to Cliff for pretty much the rest of the week. I know you all can relate... But I'm hoping it's a quick an easy work week, and that Cliff has an okay time at home while I'm gone each day.

(Sorry, venting out loud, a bit!)

I do want to take a moment to thank all of you who have been around to help me through all of the Cliff stuff. I don't know what I would've done without you! Dave thanks you too. You all helped with the hypo, while I traveled, and when I got back. Thank you! I hope you all are having good days and week and hope you all have a great 2017 to come!

Hoping to get a +3 in here. Might set my alarm for +5 or +6.

Michele its been tough for you! You've had a lot to deal with and you've been so dedicated. Trust me, you're not the only one who has to vent...we've all donre it!

Hope your week is fast and easy!
