1/19 Tiger AMPS 447, +2 360, +3 354, +4 260, +7 148, +9 160, PMPS 300

Good morning, Deb. Very happy to hear that Tiger is eating happily this morning. He will come down from his bounce. It just may take him a little bit of time since he is still getting used to lower for him numbers.
Great job posting and asking questions. Angela gave you great advice yesterday! She’s awesome.

I know you’re learning a lot every single day. I’m so proud of you, you’re doing great.
Have a great day today and give Tiger a smooch for me :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks Staci! He’s trying to come down this morning, just so slow. Hope he follows Ivy!
Angela was wonderful explaining things in terms I can understand. She is Awesome!

I think the only way I can help Tiger is to learn all I can and with you and Angela I’ll get there.

Tiger saw those beautiful blues 2 days ago so his body is not used to that. In time he will like blues again and hopefully bounce less (although Ivy still hasn’t learned that….but at least she clears the bounces faster than she used to and doesn’t stay high pink or red for very long).
Tiger will improve now that you are on the case and have a team to work with you. We all help and support each other :)

Hi Deb! He will get back to those nicer numbers, it's so hard but you need patience :bighug::bighug::bighug:

he did a big drop around noon today. I didn’t even know since he way laying on his perch in the sun for hours and I wasn’t checking him. I was so surprised to see it on the Libre when I checked it finally.

Maybe the tiny snack at +9.5 worked too good. And of course it dulled his appetite for dinner. But, he ate some and will probably graze later. Oh well learn more every day. At least no problem to shoot.

If you have to feed after nadir, try to do zero carb, maybe just freeze dried treats. Otherwise feeding after nadir can shorten duration and give you higher preshot. Think of the insulin cycle like driving a car. The first part of the cycle the insulin is pressing on the gas and taking down the BG. After nadir, the foot is off the gas and you are coasting towards that stop sign (end of cycle) as the BG numbers go up. If you give any carbs after nadir, that can tap on the brakes of the insulin action and cause the car to stop earlier than that stop sign. Meaning insulin effect wears off early = higher number for preshot.

I did a little food at almost +10 (before the 2 hour preshot limit) to up his preshot number a little bit to be high enough to shoot. The libre was indicating 160-170 and dropping slightly. Alicia had suggested we drop his ps to 175 the other day and was afraid he would be below that. I shouldn’t have done that?

Cats can also do what we call a Lantus/glargine double dip, towards the end of the cycle. That's where they do a small dip down in numbers, but not as low as the main nadir. Your spreadsheet shows he got down to 148 today , but he was clearly on his way up towards PMPS. With the possible exception of the slight wobble or double dip. The double dip is safe to shoot.
