Good morning LL ~O) ~O) ~O)

We had a bounce last night from those pretty blues, but it looks like she's coming down already. cat_pet_icon

I am tired today... my drooler, Blue, has been having problems with his knee again. He is not getting around very well on the linoleum so I need to get a few more rugs for him. He has been whining loudly all morning  we are going to make a vetty visit and see if we can adjust his medication a bit.

Have a great day LL!

Poor blue! I hope the vet can make adjustments to make him comfortable.

Bailey, on the other hand, looks great in blue!

Nice day for Bailey!

Poor Blue! It's so hard when they can't get around well. What is wrong with it? Our lab, Charlie, has had both of his knees replaced after blowing his ccl (dog version of acl) in each a year apart. He has arthritis now in both knees and it is so hard to see him uncomfortable. Adequan has helped a lot.

Have a great night Melissa!!

Bailey is looking great today! Probably another bounce by tomorrow, but she is getting back on track.

Blue is also post-CCL injury and has arthritis. He has been having a lot of weakness in that leg lately, and his feet are going out from under him sometimes  He does not really accept that he is an old man now and needs to slow down, but has been having a lot of anxiety about the linoleum since he can't walk on it very well now.

Melissa, thanks for the tip about Adequan. We are using Rimadyl and tramadol now so that is something for us to consider.

So happy we went up to this dose :-D It was hard seeing her lose momentum when we got down to such a tiny amount of insulin! I sure don't miss measuring 0.1 though

Great work today Bailey

Melissa, when my drooler started having trouble on slippery floors I bought some 'stuff' (don't know what it's called) that I think is normally used for under rugs to stop them slipping. It wasn't expensive and worked really well.

Melissa - If you talk to your vet about adequan, be sure to ask if you can do the shot at home. We had one vet who would not let us and one who would. It is an intramuscular shot, but not that bad as long as you have someone to help you. There are a lot of youtube videos on how to give it, plus your vet will show you. It cut the cost from $800 for the first 3 months to $120 for the first 3 months. You do a base load of 8 shots the first 4 weeks (twice a week), then it tapers down to once a month and as needed. We saw results by shot 3. The adequan is an anti-inflammatory like the Rimadyl but is not a painkiller. However, adequan doesn't affect the liver the way Rimadyl does.We still have to give Rimadyl or Tramadol occassionally if he seems in pain.

Also, we had always fed large breed Science Diet. They have switched Charlie to Science Diet Prescription JD. It is only by prescription so you have to get it at the vet and is more expensive but they don't eat as much. It is loaded with glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM and we don't have to give any supplements now. It smells like fish at first so you want to ease into transitioning him over. Charlie didn't want to touch it at first. Our vets swear by it and DH and I both believe it has made a big difference.

Hugs to you!
