doing better today. a little vomity about a half hr after fluids but ok after that. ate her pill pockets willingly today, which has been a big deal lately.

I'm glad she is doing a bit better. Have you tried all the flavors of Pill Pockets? They also make dog ones that are very stinky. The one I bought by mistake smelled like hickory smoked bacon. I don't know if she would like those. Have you ever tried a bit of meat or cheese instead of a Pill Pocket?

I am glad to see that Cleo is feeling better today.
You see what all the sent healing vines will do.
Sending lots more your way.

quoting because of my sieve brain...

cassandra, yep, i'm using LRs. discussed with vet using normosol instead and she said it usually doesn't make a difference but sure if i want. guess the lymphoma group found similarly that acidosis and LRs aren't really a big deal beyond one study possibly taken out of context, if that's what you're thinking about? it caught my attention earlier.

i've only tried chicken pill pockets, which she LOVED. she hated leukeran (even the chewables) so i put it in pill pockets and it turned her off pill pockets. haven't tried the dog ones -- noticed they have more carbs/grain but are cheaper. maybe i'll try salmon. hate to waste money if she won't eat those either tho. but maybe a change in flavor will kill that bad association with leukeran.

Actually, I was thinking that some people have reported vomiting after using Normosol, and I was wondering if you were using that as you said she vomited after SQuids today. I've always used LRS. I know virtually nothing about acidosis outside of following Latte's progress.

+3.5 236

yucky +3.5.

cleo has never vomited after LRs before so i'm guessing she was just feeling bad and it had nothing to do with the fluids. interesting about normosol and vomiting, tho. hadn't heard that. found a good deal on LRs so not in a rush to switch anyway but cleo really does have a lot of gas in her intestines and anything to reduce her acid balance would be good (gets injectable pepcid BID tho).

((Chris and Cleo))

Hope that Cleo is feeling much better this evening.
Nice to see some green in her SS..

Sending feel good vines to Cleo!

we suspected normosol made meowzi vomit, but as we were giving it concurrent with chemo, there was no way to confirm. she did stop vomiting after we switched her to LRS.

if you do wish to switch to a multi-electrolyte solution, fyi, meowzi did better on bbraun's isolyte. she didn't like it, just as she didn't like normosol (neither are buffered, unlike LRS, and probably sting when going in) but at least she didn't throw up with isolyte.

uh-oh. been there, done that :) she found a clavamox pill in her pill pocket and refused to eat another temptations-pillpocket sammich for MONTHS!

there's also flavor-doh. we haven't tried it but i've seen it on sale at our hospital.

also, rebecca posted a recipe for homemade flavor-doh on health sometime back. not sure if anyone saved it; if you can't find it, send rebecca a pm and she can probably share it with you.

I could have sworn I posted here earlier, sheesh talk about sieve brain, mine must be going too. I'm just following along, I don't have experience with the things you and Cleo are going through but I'm reading and watching every day. ((((Chris))))

sieve brain, i haz one too

possible alternatives to pillpockets: friskies tender treats, whisker lickin's tender moments treats. these may work for smaller pills - just squish the pill in and mould treat back into some form that covers the pill.
