I hear ya. I wish all cats could be controlled on tiny microdoses. It seems pretty sad shooting in all that insulin. 4 is the same point that I felt that way too. It's also when I dropped back for a rebound test, really hoping I had just missed his dose. That 4u's felt so much worse than 3. I wish I had another suggestion, but maybe he just needs a little more to break through some resistance.

Does the higher dose ever make you think about switching to a different insulin? That would be something I'd wonder about. Not that I know much about other insulins.

Re: 1/17 Mickey amps 313 +3 298

For me it does. Mostly because of cost. Once you get above 5u bid it becomes cheaper to switch to levemir. I think you need to get to around 10u bid to make lantus more cost effective. But just like in humans- some insulins work better for some people. But then you have to start all over from 1u again and put your kitty in more risk of ketones from the higher numbers. Luckily Charlie doesn't seem prone to ketones.

That would be an idea. Because the insulin cost about 125.00 with tax and all.
I am sure my vet would switch it for me. I am going to use this bottle and get alot of numbers to see if he is in rebound and see what is going on first.
Amen Kristen !!
